How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? Encouraged learners to be thoughtful of others and it didn't matter if they were at school everyday or once. They were a valuable member of the class.

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? Battery changing activities showed learners that some days our batteries need charging and that's ok. Sometimes we can help but other times they just need time.

“This kit was incredible for new entrants to ease them in to respectful relationships. They especially enjoyed the battery of positive power where they could recharge when they were ebbing low. Lots of great ways to learn how to make and keep friends, and monitor relationships as they develop.”

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? Children have a much better understanding of respect and they are better at understanding others emotions and regulating their own.

Especially the younger children have struggled with this due to the effects of COVID and it was a great pack to do with the children to assist in building those positive relationships with one another. Between children - children and children - teacher.

Respect was something that they learnt about in KiwiCan and was our values topic for the term. So the activities helped to expand on this through their physical actions and them showing what it really meant to be respectful towards others. Not just in wor

“My new entrant class throughly enjoyed the play lunch project and when parents heard about the booklets and how it encouraged children to make new friends everyday. They were 100% supportive and praising of how much it had helped their own child settle into the new classroom and make new meaningful connections with peers. The children were excited to go outside and play and even as the term had continued and the booklets had finished, the children continued to develop other relationships and become risk takers in play with friends they may not of had the courage to ask to play before.”

My Y2 class has not had a normal year that they can remember, with covid hitting when they were 4. It was especially helpful as a reminder towards the end of term when they start getting tired and ratty with each other

“The "Respectful Relationships"kit has been a huge success in my Year 2 class. Unfortunately the roll fluctuated quite significantly due to Covid so I had to recap the learning over and over again to capture the students' interest. The kit was very well thought of, thank you for this great opportunity.”

Fitted well as many can are feeling anxious about school, may not be comfortable with returning etc. helped others recognise feels that may be shown in their class mates

Given that there was a long period of not seeing anyone face to face at the end of the year, this was a good way to bring them together and for them to work collectively for a goal.
