Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them On the school grounds, students now notice all bits of plastic and point it out to me when we go out for physical education and when they see me during my playground duties. They have kept their gloves that have been washed. Students were very keen to join the Enviro team that I run. We started Trees for Life at our school through the Enviro team. The students are just so much more observant of nature around them.
Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The gloves and the bags. The students felt kitted up for the job.
How many bags of rubbish did your class collect? Two big ones!
How has this kit impacted your class culture toward whenua ora (land wellness) and sustainability? They have adopted the term of Kaitiaki. We read Pipi and Pou and the raging mountain as our shared chapter book and did the bird counting earlier in the year.
What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? They will stand up for the environment and speak with some authority on what the probable outcome of plastic will be if it is not prevented from ending up in waterways and landfills.

What was the most interesting piece of rubbish found and why? A long piece of rope; we could not understand how it landed up at that location.
This kit helped to create an awareness of plastic all around us and how we can change the destination of plastics. The students were super excited to wear their gloves and to go out to scout for plastic in all forms.

What was the most interesting piece of rubbish found and why? Broken set of scales - kids enjoyed cleaning them up and using them. We learnt about re-using, and about how to throw away household goods responsibly.
The Sea Cleaners kit was a bit hit in our junior primary classes, with each student eager to learn more about how rubbish reached the ocean. The gloves and bags were sturdy and fit for purpose, though we did overestimate how much rubbish we could find so had a few bags left over to also help clean up our school!

I was disappointed with this kit, I didn't realise that it would require children to go out and collect rubbish. I probably should have realised this given the title but I didn't. We don't live close to the sea and an excursion like this would have required a lot of forms and permission.
