Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them 1) I liked finding all the rubbish! 2) Lots of things I found people had put there. It could go into the stream.
Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The ability to sort the rubbish and record what it was. The ease of using the kit was really helpful for us.

How has this kit impacted your class culture toward whenua ora (land wellness) and sustainability? They are understanding they are kaitiaki and keen to clean up all the rubbsih at school as they can see how it can affect others and sustainability. I think sticking the rubbish on the pictures of animals really helped them understand
What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Our rubbish can go into the river and sea

What was the most interesting piece of rubbish found and why? An old picnic table deep in the bush, it made the students wonder how it got there. A large metal pole that took 5 children to move as they wondered who would put it there.
This kit had everything we needed to do a trip to clean a local environment. The support from school kit was amazing and the children loved it.

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them The students loved it. They have started making their own lunchtime club to pick up rubbish and have made posters in their own time. They are taking action.
Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The gloves and bags. Students loved being 'hands on'.

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them I couldn't believe the things people dumped at our local rivers and sea! I have been get my parents to help me collect more rubbish when we are out on the weekends!
Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The hands on collecting, as they couldn't believe just how much rubbish people were dumping at our rivers and beaches, they were shocked by the massives piles at some areas!

How has this kit impacted your class culture toward whenua ora (land wellness) and sustainability? It has opened their eyes to how big the problem is, and many students have conducted inquiries around this as a result on the impact of our river and sea creatures.

What was the most interesting piece of rubbish found and why? The kids were fascinated by the old bike, they were curious as to whether it had been dumped, stolen and dumped or just a result of our previous floods.
The kids loved the hands on aspects of this and was really powerful for them to be contributors to minimising rubbish. It made them more aware of their surroundings and kaitiakitanga.

We have been working on community and the students wanted to connect Maramatanga and do more for our school community. Going out and collecting rubbish was a great way for them to feel helpful and involved in making a change.

Children enjoyed getting out of the classroom and cleaning up the environment. They loved having the gloves and big bags to make it more special.

Our students enjoy the outdoors and getting stuck into it, especially when it comes to helping and learning about the environment. Great pack to get students in a different outdoor environment and helping the earth.
