How did students approach the car modification challenge, and what innovative solutions did they come up with? Students thought carefully about the weight of the bolts and how it was distributed, experimenting to make their cars go faster. They really enjoyed the trial-and-error aspect, trying different ideas, testing them, and adjusting their designs. This hands-on problem-solving made the activity engaging and helped them understand how small changes can affect performance.

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? The students really enjoyed the kits.
What kind of feedback did you receive from students regarding the overall unit, and how did it influence their learning experience? We had students opt into completing this workshop once they had heard about the kit and what was involved.
This kit was an amazing addition to our end of year workshops with year 9 - 11 students. They covered the concepts of energy transformation in class, then the kits were used to extend and reinforce their understanding. Students loved the ability to apply their learning in a hands on way.

My CRT reliever was able to use the kit during her sessions. She said it really worked well and she enjoyed hearing the students using the language. The only part she struggled with was some of the construction building. Not all students were able to get past the part where it had to place the wheel on. Howevr, they did enjoy being able to place it outside and let the sun drive the car around.

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? The students loved this. They even asked parents to buy extra parts for their car such as switches and battery packs.
The students really enjoyed doing solar cars. It's better when the sun is shining but no sun is all part of the learning curve. The students also looked into a battery pack as well as using solar panels to see if their car would go faster.
