A great kit to get the children thinking beyond themselves and about potential issues and ways to help within the wider community. Originally I got the kit for a Yr 2-4 class but decided it was a bit too difficult for them so used it with a Yr 5-6 class and it was great.

What was the community impact of your volunteering project? So far we aren’t sure about impact other than a few tears as Angels have touched some soft hearts. We think we have a winning outreach artifact to encourage others. We are collating these to create a diary of sorts, with our voices of encouragement plus r

Our kit arrived in Term 4 ready for us to use our talents and skills in art, mathematics. social sciences, thinking/imagination and literacy. We made a plan as we listened to each other about our current needs. These needs looked like creating a taonga for our leaving year 8 friends, staff who are moving on and for family members who need a wee lift in spirits! Our ‘Angels of Encouragement’ booklet is almost done but thought we best send in our awesome thanks for this kit for inspiring us to look for the need and move into action. Students thought that a colouring in journal with encouraging words could make many others feel happier in a season of busyness and sometimes sadness too. Will share more - and the PDF version in our School Kit Community for others to enjoy should they like to see it!

Another awesome resource kit that has all the tools to be successful. The children loved the opportunity to take on roles and lead in areas where they had strengths. We struggled a bit to come up with a project that was connected to us and our community, probably left it a bit late in the year to get stuck in.

Some great resources to get started. You can make it as big or a smaller project as you want.

We ended up having not a lot of time to complete the kit as we had alot of children out on and off due to sickness. So we kept this relatively low key and completed within school grounds. The were supposed to head to rest homes with our baked goods and singing but this was cancelled due to our increased numbers of covid cases.

Although this looked to be a fantastic resource different issues around individual student challenges, school activities and time constraints meant we didn’t get very far with this. I do however hope to run this as a lunchtime or whanau time club next year.
