“Purchased to aide in walking with a broken fourth toe. I spoke with David over the phone; he was incredibly helpful and had fantastic biomechanical knowledge. Shoe has a very rigid sole to prevent toes from bending whilst walking, with a (firm) foam inner sole that makes the shoe very comfortable for wear throughout the entire day. Removeable velcro straps allow fit to be personalised, also around the ankle. As per David’s advice, I went a size up and purchased size S (I was at the upper end of XS range). This is essential so the ends of my toes are mostly encased by the velcro strap – if they were sticking out from under the strap much more, there wouldn’t be sufficient stabilisation of my broken toe. For reference, I have a narrow foot so even with thick socks, I can still wiggle my toes (especially my big toe). Ideally, the strap across the top of the foot would extend that little bit further to the front of the shoe so toes can be firmly stabilised depending on the injury. The rigid square toe has saved me so much pain by completely absorbing the impact of numerous kicks to furniture since the injury.
