“I went to have my initial consultation whilst having difficulty walking. I had my leg scanned but had to stop and lie down due to feeling faint. I was treated very well. The consultant informed me that I had severe phlebitis and I should take ibuprofen and walk to reduce the condition. That evening I had chest pains but thought it was indigestion. The following day the chest pain was so bad I went to A&E. I was admitted to hospital for 4 days and was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism. I am now on blood thinners for the next 3 months due to the PE being a probable provoked occurrence from the phlebitis. I am now unable to have the procedure on my varicose vein.”
