“We were disappointed in The Bent Rod. It is in a good location, however the house needs a deep cleaning and a major update. We had issues with electrical wiring; a family of possums living in the rafters outside underneath between the driveway and the boat deck; the water pressure was very low in the master shower and the bathrooms were filthy and gross (the wallpaper is very dirty); the beds are terrible (lumpy, uncomfortable, there was only three towels in the whole place though we had stated we would have 8 people during our stay; and the place overall is worn out (furniture is dirty, and the place isn't clean). The positives are that the kitchen is well equipped with good appliances and pots and pans, dishes and glassware. The Tv is good but the wi-fi is so slow. The downstairs washer and dryer are not accessible since the utility room reeks with mold and mildew smell. My family all concurs we would not rent this house again. The value wasn't good. There are many great places to rent for the same amount.”

“Excellent customer service, fast, easy and very friendly. I didn’t have any issues making my reservation at all, will definitely use them again :) . On the other hand very DISAPPOINTED with the house we rented (The Bend Rod).The pictures online where very nice and beautiful. When we get there it was another story :( . In the Fowler there where windows with broken glass very dangerous, we where afraid they where going to shatter every time we closed the door. Sofas had dog hair, floor and wall paper peeling in one of the restroom. Very strong and nasty smell (pee) in the restrooms plus the toilet seat very rusted. Stains on the carpet and chairs plus one of the chairs at the dinning table was broken. Outside furniture needs to be updated and the rail in the front balcony very loosened, we did not feel safe at all in the front balcony. I understand it’s on the canal and it’s not going to be perfect but please have the house spray for bugs. Lots of roaches (small, medium and large) This is not good for my kids that have asthma. I’m very disappointed with the house :(”

“Very comfortable, spacious, clean, and attractive. Really loved all the beachy decorations. A lot of neat items all through the property. Always discovering neat items during the stay. Only disappointment was not catching any crabs.guess too far away from the bay for any to reach that area.”

“The stay was very good the house was very clean and cozy feeling and the kitchen was well-equipped the only thing was the bathroom light was not working so we had to use the light from the room to see and the beds are outdated and very springy and sunk in uncomfortable other than that I Had a wonderful time at the house. And I think it would be a good idea if the owner would add a kayak or two so that we could use them in the canal I plan on booking again here in the future thank you”

“Love the location & house but needed updating especially the toilets. we're not big people but those toilets are way too small to sit on. other than that we have no issues and will return again next year.”

“For the expense of four days staying at a place in Galveston which we have stayed before $350 a night even more expensive than the last house we paid that had a pool and a fenced in yard which we were promised we were sorely disappointed this house is very very old rotted wood everywhere mold all over the house that has a very strong horrible sent we were unable to even sleep in either bedroom we ended up leaving early boards are missing from the balcony part of the stair rail is missing my mothers over 75 years old and had trouble getting up and down until the second day someone took the padlock off the door that has inner stairs and that helped we were unable to get to the washing machine for two days. Water heater was out , had to have a repair man come. We had rented with this company before and were so pleased when we got there the smell was so bad we asked to be moved because we couldn’t tolerate it but they were not accommodating at all we will never rent from Rison again and this house should not even be a rental property for anyone! Total waste of our money which was hard to come by.”
