“We really enjoyed our stay at the Salty Blue Mermaid! The house was in perfect condition with lots of space! Each adult couple got their own bedroom and bathroom and the kids each had their own bunk and bathroom. The back porch has beautiful ocean views and is constantly shaded so sitting out there anytime of the day is so relaxing! While the beach is public access it was not crowded at all which made it really nice, especially with the times we are living in today. We enjoyed cooking most of our meals in the very well equipped kitchen and there is a little grocery store down the street that has anything you would need for food including produce, meats (steak, ground beef), chicken and even a deli. A little further down towards the Jamaica Beach area there is a "Shrimp n Stuff" food truck in the parking lot of a convenience store. The food truck is owned by the same "Shrimp n Stuff" restaurant in Galveston. If you like fried shrimp that's the place to get it! We also went to the Texas A&M Galveston campus near the bay and found an area that has lots of shells and is a home to LOTS of hermit crabs! Shelling and watching the hermit crabs was lots of fun! We will definitely be back to the Salty Blue Mermaid for many years to come!!”

“We enjoyed our stay at the Salty Blue Mermaid. All of our family who originally planned to come couldn’t make it due to Covid 19 and work restrictions but 6 of us who could come did. We loved the three master suites with private little table. We grilled and ate on the deck every day. The beds were comfortable and the home was very clean. The view was amazing. The microwave didn’t heat but the Maintenance dept offered to bring us a replacement. We didn’t have them do that though. Lawn service staff were extremely courteous turning off equipment as we walked by to go to the beach. They were working on the house next door so there was a lot of racket next door but they didn’t start too early or work too late. Our only true complaint would be that we had no real idea what day to take out the trash bins. We arrived at 530 pm Monday and from we understood by the directions the bins were to be picked up Monday. There were 2 full bins. We took it to the curb Tuesday-Fri and it was never picked up for us so I’m guessing it was supposed to have been set out Monday and wasn’t. Additionally, a few more games would be nice. We loved Uno and played Go fish. Think Yahtzee, Jenga, sorry. Another inexpensive addition would be a beach wagon, a few chairs and some beach gear to use as a courtesy. I saw this as a courtesy at many other rental companies. All and all, we loved the Salty Blue Mermaid and would love to stay again. ❤️”

“Loved our stay at The Salty Blue Mermaid! It was just a 3-4 minute walk to the beach. Each bedroom had it’s own bathroom and opened up to the porch with ocean views. The bunk room was perfect for the kids with 3 sets of custom bunk beds. The bedding was very comfortable and there were plenty of outlets for everyone’s devices throughout the house. The large common area was beautifully decorated and had more than enough seating for everyone. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to cook meals. It was easy to see the owners thought about every detail in this house! We can’t wait to go back!”
