When shopping in the Sandhurst store today, I picked a box of champagne flutes reduced to 99p, they were on display with a ticket. When going through the checkout I was told that these can't be sold because they are not on the system, I asked whether they could be scanned as a miscellaneous code and was told that this couldn't happen. A manager was called over and said that HQ instructed that all remaining Christmas stock can't be sold. This is absolutely horrendous customer service, stock should have been removed from the shop floor and I really don't understand why my purchase could not have been honoured, I wrote to the Customer Service team and received an obviously pick a paragraph scripted response with a few paragraphs, the last paragraph included:
Unfortunately the product is no longer available so maybe that is the reason why it cannot be sold anymore maybe they forgot to pull out the item and we are very sorry for this happened and we hope you understand.
In most cases I would have let this go. But we are talking about a 99p glass that Aldi refused to sell, yet it was on display with a price label.
