A Humiliating policy.
I recently was on the recieving end of Aldi's new 'random' 'bag check' policy.
Never felt insulted by a cashier before but there's a first for everything apparently.
From reading reports online, this doesn't sound like something the staff are necessarily happy doing. I'm all for deterring shop lifting but the fact this is something they do randomly and no doubt reluctantly results in the customer in front of you not being asked to 'lift their bag to see there's nothing in it'
And you being asked... Seriously, Humiliating.
So if they want to enforce such a policy you either do it to everyone or no one.
If you do it randomly, the implication is that you obviously feel singled out for looking 'suspicious'.
I genuinely don't think I'll be going back because of this, I don't want to go shopping in a place where I might be 'randomly' selected Infront of other customers to prove I'm not a shoplifter.
