What could be better than choosing one made with Horween’s legendary shell cordovan—expertly crafted by Ashland Leather, a brand synonymous with Horween. I was hoping to get a special piece from Ashland’s private stock (now limited release) but had always missed out on the ones I liked. At first, I was torn between Johnny the Fox and Tony the Ant, with a slight lean toward Tony for its more distinctive design—less conventional than the classic JTF. But everything changed during the last limited release. In the preview video, Phil mentioned he’s got a 100% conversion rate when recommending the Fat Herbie, and that statement sealed the deal. Fat Herbie it is! As for the color—none other than Amaretto, Phil’s favorite. I’ve been using it for the past week and absolutely love it. I can’t wait to watch that gorgeous shell develop its iconic patina and rich luster.
