First of all I have to state for the record that the staff and service at the store in Oldham were excellent, in particular Aga. However, before we decided to purchase the bed from Bensons, we had read the reviews, and they were mostly poor with regards to the delivery and the after customer service side of the experience. However, we had decided on an Ottoman super king size bed with separate mattersses, which we found at Bensons for the right price. So, we decided to take a chance. We were re-decorating the whole bedroom, so the 4 weeks delivery time did not affect our decision. The bed was delivered on time and the delivery men installed it. The first thing that went wrong was that one of the divans did not have any castors or bed headboard fixings with it, so they could only install one side. I contacted customer services straight away, but it took a week to deliver the replacement castors. The package we received contained 12 castors, when we only required 4 and no extra headboard fixing screws. I had paid for the bed to be installed and bolted together, but I ended up doing the other half myself. To make matters worse, when we removed the corner edge protections from the mattresses, we discovered that they were different firmness ratings. I spoke to the store immediately, and they advised me to email customer services and send photos of the mattress labels, which I did. I followed that up with a phone call as well, only to be told that the replacement mattress would be 3 to 4 weeks delivery. My complaint is not with the store, the product or indeed customer service staff, all of which were contactable and did what they could, when they said they would. My complaint is with the quality control aspect of the whole system. If these beds are made to order, what idiot is not putting the bag of castors and fixings in each consignment, and what other incompetent is not checking each delivery against the order, either when it is dispatched from the manufacturers, or received at Bensons delivery depot, and before it is delivered to the customer? I run a successful business, and sevice is the key. It's not rocket science to get it right. It's attention to detail and employing inteligent people, with a brain. In conclusion, I will be seaking some form of compensation for the overall inconvenience.
