My experience with CarShop began with an online form resulting in an employee called Dylan Thomas calling me repeatedly; certainly relatively pressured and less than pleasant. Despite this, there were some cars in stock which I liked and so decided to attend the showroom. I was handed over to a 'Business Manager' called Alexander Collins. Having requested to buy the car via PCP, Alex proceeded to comment on my income in front of my relative, information I don't want anyone knowing but trusted that a senior employee at CarShop would be professional enough not to divulge, especially not in the blaise manner of 'Oh, you're doing well for yourself' Having found an acceptance for a PCP, I asked Alex what the total cost of the finance would be in the event I settled it in December, and that I would be happy with anything less than £1-2K in total interest paid. A prompt reply came in the form of 'Around the £1000 mark'; having asked the finance broker themselves, they informed me that such a calculation isn't possible as the lender will allocate payments to the interest and principle at their discretion. It is thus my opinion that Alex quite simply lied about the level of finance cost, which is in and of itself, fraud. From there, Alex proceeded to add on the Warranty (which costs double the warranty of other providers), and paint protection- both of which I wanted on a different car, not the one I was at this stage proceeding with. Alex seemed to adopt the strategy of pretending to be Forrest Gump and not understanding my very basic request to remove these two items from the purchase price. I received several perfunctory email replies, including 'yes, I can confirm that these are on the order' and 'no, we cannot discount the vehicle', not to mention several ignored emails. At this point, having become utterly fed up of being lied to, I told Alex that if he did not remove these items from the purchase by the close of business, I would cancel my order. Alex did not reply, and so I cancelled my order the next day. Alex claimed that he left the office early, and that he was now all of a sudden happy to take them off of the order. As if this wasn't laughable and dishonest enough, I sent the aforementioned email at 12:22- I suppose it must have been a very short day for him not to have seen it. From here, I have to say that a different colleague, Richard Geen, was helpful and assisted me in recovering my deposit immediately. In brief, I was lied to several times and received some of the most embarrassingly rude service imaginable, from someone whom CarShop has promoted. There are positive reviews written here- most of which with very similar verbatim and writing styles; draw whichever inferences you wish.
