From a delivery driver's perspective, I can not deny that there are some bad delivery drivers as there are bad CUSTOMERS. DRIVER'S are blamed for EVERYTHING even things that are NOT their fault or beyond their control. I would like to address some of these issues.
Many times RESTAURANTS ARE SLOW. LATE, etc due to either the fact that they are VERY BUSY or UNDER STAFFED, EMPLOYEE CALL OUTS. A driver can NOT control how long the restaurant takes to make a customer's food. Drivers want the food ASAP as time is MONEY for them. How is it the DRIVER's fault that the restaurant took FOREVER to make their food?
Also MISSING ITEMS. Do customer's understand that DELIVERY DRIVER'S ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED TO OPEN THEIR SEALED BAGS??? A MISSING ITEM IS THE RESTUARANT'S FAULT..PERIOD. Driver's can check for drinks or that the receipt matches the bag, however we can not control if the RESTAURANT MISSES one or some of their Items. HOW IS THIS THE DRIVER'S FAULT???MISSING ITEMS ARE 100% ON THE RESTAURANT. CUSTOMERS NEED TO STOP BLAMING THE DRIVERS FOR EVERYTHING. ESPECIALLY THINGS THEY HAVE NO CONTROL OVER SUCH AS LATE FOOD DUE TO LONG WAITS AT THE RESTUARANTS AND MISSING ITEMS...THIS IS 100%THE RESTURANT'S FAULT, NOT THE DRIVER.
Yes we do get STACKED or MULTIPLE ORDERS. The same way PIZZA DELIVERY DRIVERS AND CHINESE FOOD PLACE DRIVERS GET. DOOR DASH should NOT allow customers to track drivers via GPS. VERY UNFAIR. What matters is if the delivered food arrives on time and warm. NOBODY has issues with PIZZAS DELIVERY AND CHINESE FOOD PLACES DELIVERING MULTIPLE ORDERS. WHY IS THERE AN ISSUE WITH DOOR DASH DOING THIS? Also this is not all of the time either and the most we get is 2 orders not 5 to 10 orders such as pizza and Chinese food drivers.
DRIVERS drive about 100 or more MILES per day yet the older generation INSISTS ON THE DRIVER KNOWING THE AREA!!!! THIS IS 2020 NOT 1957. DRIVERS USE THEIR GPS AND 98% OF THE TIME IT IS ACCURATE. If you put the WRONG address on the account or FORGET to include an APARTMENT BULDING NUMBER, than you have only YOURSELF TO BLAME. Also if we have an issue such as we can not find your house, the restaurant is late, the restaurant is out of an item...PLEASE ANSWER YOUR DARN PHONE/TEXTS!!!!! It is ABSOLUTLY INFURIATING when a customer takes forever to RESPOND when something comes up. TIMES IS MONEY FOR US and we do NOT have ALL DAY to wait for you to RESPOND!!! So please check your phone/texts. Write any specific instructions or directions on your account. Such as if you have had issues before and know the GPS brings the griver to the wrong area. Let them know on "SPECIFIC INSTRUCTION" on your account or text them to let them know. We are NOT CLAIRVOYANT.
Also I have read complaints about drivers not knocking when doing contactless deliveries. Do you understand many people do NOT want you to knock as their kids are sleeping or the dogs go crazy etc. If you want the driver to knock please write that in the "instruction" area we can not know this unless you tell us. Many customers do NOT want us knocking on their doors.
As for drivers not wearing masks, most deliveries are NO CONTACT!!! If you want a NO CONTACT delivery than do not come to the door to meet the driver and later complain about NO MASKS!!!We all wear them to pick up food in the restaurants but don't need them for SUPPOSED NO CONTACT DELIVERIES!! If NO MASK bothers you than DO NOT COME TO THE DOOR TO MEET DRIVER WHEN YOU HAVE REQUESTED A NO CONTACT DELIVERY!!! COMMON SENSE!!!
Also for night time deliveries, for GOD'S SAKE..LEAVE YOUR LIGHT ON!!! HOW DO U3PU EXPECT US TO SEE YOUR HOUSE NUMBER WHEN YOU DO NOT LEAVE A LIGHT ON???? If you order food enough, PLEASE BUY HOUSE NUMBERS TO PUT ON YOUR MAILBOX OR HOUSE!!! Customers complain about food being delivered to the wrong house/apartment yet SO MANY do not even have house numbers on their house or mailbox!!! Than the driver calls/texts them and they take their sweet time answering after 10/20 MINUTES!!! We have a timer...if we CAN NOT contact you in 5 MINUTES....we are to leave the food and marked DELIVERED!!
Many customers do not have numbers on their house or mailbox..then they do not answer the drivers calls or texts and expect the delivery driver to know where their house or apartment is!!!!! This is LUDICROUS!!! We can NOT wait all day for you to answer phone/texts!!! If you do not answer us in 5 minutes and we are at the WRONG HOUSE, we are to leave the food, upload a picture and MARKED DELIVERED. YOU HAVE ONLY YOURSELF TO BLAME IF YOU DID NOT LEAVE A LIGHT ON AT NIGHT, HAVE NO HOUSE NUMBER ON YOUR HOUSE OR MAILBOX, AND/OR NEVER ANSWERED OR TOOK FOREVER TO ANSWER THE DRIVER'S CALLS OR TEXTS.
I am not saying that all drivers are perfect but please STOP blaming us for EVERYTHING!!!! Many customers try and SCAM Door Dash 24/7 trying to get FREE FOOD AS WELL.
