Booked a car in Tenerife through DoyouSpain. Paid E664 for a Clio which seemed excessive but there was nothing else available. Price paid included "Platinum" comprehensive insurance. Surprised therefore when picking up car from Goldcar to be asked to pay again for insurance - about E388 including tank of fuel. Had to stump up or else I wouldn't be given keys. Turned out Clio was a clapped-out base model (40 thousand kilometers on clock) that smelt of tobacco, already had its fair share of knocks and the door frame was covered with adhesive from the many "your car is now clean" stickers that had been applied previously. Can't get sense out of DoyouSpain or Goldcar.
