booked a rental car through DoYouSpain at Málaga Airport and paid €244 in advance. When I arrived, the car was refused because I had a VISA debit card – even though the booking documents clearly stated I could leave a €1,100 deposit upon collection.
That option was not offered. Instead, I was told I could only get the car if I paid over €300 for additional insurance – which I declined. I never signed a rental contract, never received a vehicle – and yet DoYouSpain refuses to refund me.
Customer service keeps responding with copy-paste replies and completely ignores the facts of my case.
This is not transparent business and clearly not in line with EU consumer rights. I have filed a complaint with the European Consumer Centre (ECC-Net) and initiated a chargeback with my bank.
Bottom line: The prices may look good, but if anything goes wrong, you’re on your own – and out of money. Never again.
