I began my HR career working in recruitment before transitioning into an HR Administrator role, whilst studying for the CIPD Level 3 Foundation Certificate in People Practice; this entry-level qualification alongside my work set me up for an exciting career. After moving on from an In-House People function, I moved across to a small HR Consultancy into the role of HR Officer, where I had exposure to a variety of clients and industries. Based on the hands-on experience that I gained as HR Officer, I was then promoted to HR Consultant, whereby I now manage a range of clients independently, with support from my own HR Administrator.
In my personal life, I live in the beautiful South Hams in Devon with my husband, 6-year-old son and two cats, and I am excited to be expecting another baby very soon.
I work as HR Consultant for an HR Consultancy based in Devon. I currently manage 11 retained clients as well as ad-hoc projects. I look after a variety of sectors, including some charities, a PR agency, estate agents and a portfolio of boutique hotel properties. I love that every day is different, and each client brings its own set of challenges and rewards.
I often suffer from imposter syndrome because I never went to University and most of my knowledge and skills has been learnt through my professional and personal experiences (as well as excellent coaching mentors), so I decided that the next step for me was to embark on a new course to solidify what I already know and elevate my HR career within my existing Company.
When I started the course, I specifically wanted to find a flexible training provider that would enable me to manage my studies alongside my busy life as a working mum. Many courses are rigid with their approach with fixed course dates and deadlines, but e-Careers stood out due to being able to set my own schedules and being able to work through the course at my own pace to fit in with work and family life.
It has been great to log on to the training platform at my own convenience, managing my own study schedule and working through each unit when it feels right for me. I have been able to watch back webinars even if I haven’t been able to attend at the time they are live and have been able to ask my tutor questions for anything that I am not sure of.
Getting in touch with both customer support and my tutor are both very accessible as you can access most things through your individual course log-in; everything is in one place which makes it really easy to use.
e-Careers is a great option for anyone who is looking for a flexible approach to their studies, particularly for people like me who have a busy work and home life to juggle at the same time!
