Ordered 67 plate transit custom sunday gone, delivery for tuesday 2 days later. They rang monday to say they should have it ready if i wish to collect by wednesday as it requires mot, full valet and full machine polish. Annoying to wait extra day given advert said vehicle was ready to be driven away today (sunday) but hey ho, i made it clear i have litterally just recovered from covid as in last week and that cleanliness was of the highest importance and i was reassured it would be spotless. I also asked if the vehicle had any noticeable damage or scratches/rust etc- i was again assured it had a few minor scratches which would machine polish out and if any damage could not polish out, they had a bodyshop whom would sort damage out. Their advert/ sales pitch states it has had a full electrical/mechanical/ cosmetic check and it would be in tip top shape. So to my surprise.... i ring wednesday as ive heard nothing to be told there was a mix up and van had still not gone for its mot yet?? as it was at the bodyshop being fully machine polished. so i had no option but to wait. thursday comes and at near close of business i am rang to be told the van had failed its mot?? surprising given its supposedly had this top set of checks carried out as its just 3.7 years old? what was alarming was the failures: tyre cut exposing chords/ply rear brakes dangerously corroded/weakened battery insecure which could cause short circuit excessive handbrake movement minors: all brake pipes corroded on a less than 4 year old van with 70k miles? other rear tyre has a nail in front pads and discs corroded/scored/pitted but not weakened so now im annoyed to say the least and i am starting to distrust this dealerships so called work methods, so now i complain via email as im told it may be ready for friday if they can get parts ordered/ fitted in time, if not next week..... so then i get a call friday dinner to say its passed mot (mot still states theres a nail in the tyre at this point and all minors still exist) but the van will be ready for collection at 4pm as vehicle is at the valeters. ok all looking better so i agree to collection at 4pm. and then it all went wrong i turn up and as i arrive i can see from a mile away the rear quarter has been repainted poorly so im already in a mood so i start to look round to see a horrific list of poor repairs, dents, scratches, differnet colour door with filler marks, pitted paint, rust under door handles, rusty rear hinges, chipped windscreen, paint on the front seats/rear seats, cement stains on rear seats, under the passenger seat has been used as a rubbish bin, what looks like black mould on the sun visor, what looks like snot on the roof (my youngest sons words) a used biro pen in the rear door along with what looks like mud, they have simply tightened up the handbrake im assuming as the handbrake cover is flopping around and will not clip back into place- this is compounded by the dirt and rust thats visible as a result of cover not being in place. Seatbelt has been removed on drivers seat as its now been fitted back incorrectly, windscreen wipers do very little to clear windscreen yet it passed mot this way, inside of all windows are disgusting thick with grease and dirt ( i wiped just one part with a piece of white cloth and it came off black ). Rear of the van is a whole story to itself - litterally looks like someone drove through a muddy ford with rear doors open and flooded it. I mean seriously the list goes on and on.... whole van has been cleaned by freddy crueger or wolverine given the gouges to side windows, trims, panels. Only panels that have not been painted /dented or scratched is the bonnet. bumpers are completely dry/flaking in places. so i make my dissatisfaction abundently clear to be told by salesman van has been cleaned and machine polished, so i took my finger and wiped what he claimed to be in the paint - muck off the top of the damaged /scraped top of one of the sliding doors. At this point he says that it didnt have a full machine polish as he first claimed and said the onsite team have simply polished worst scratches that they could (but yet they left ones that could have came out) he then went on to say his manager tells him what they can spend on getting the vehicles ready ( imguessing it was the cost of a coffe or similar given the disgusting state) and that the online checks are based on age / mileage? so what evans halshaw hull are effectively saying is this.... if you buy a van thats 3.7 years old with 70k miles on it, it will be damaged all over, will have had plenty of poor repairs, it wont have been looked after, they wont repair it fully or properly, will have broken or ill fitted parts, paint on seats (as we all know this happens with age/miles) but what they will do is happily take your money, tell you everything will be checked and cleaned properly but then go on and do the exact opposite.. handover is meant to be done shortly and in a covid secure way, no gloves, no hand sanitiser, keys had ingrained dirt and i was passed a pen to sign actual paperwork which had not been cleaned etc everything should be online to minimise contact especially given id made it clear i had just recovered from covid 19 and still in fact have some now ongoing issues, so i had to get anti bac wipes to wipe vehicle down before i could drive it home, wear a mask all the way home and gloves as this thing is a breeding ground for germs. now van seems a little underpowered at the minute which im hoping is nothing as that would be the icing on a terrible cake, no apologies no discounts for such a poor vehicle nothing, but what i did get was a handover sheet which stated i was happy with every part of the vehicle and guarantees etc had been explained, so i quickly ensured i corrected all of this and took photos to prove so. now why did i take the van? because its on finance so its a hell of a lot of hassle to correct this, i have my own proper bodyshop/valeting facilities so i can rectify all issues and to be fair i wouldnt trust this dealership to put fuel in the van never mind correct all thats wrong. Ive already had my health put at risk by visiting these once, so sure as anything would rather stay clear. if i could post photos i would as i would seriously think twice before going here. I will be documenting all of this in one of my upcoming youtube series if anyone simply cannot believe a vehicle could be sold at this worrying time in such a terrible state. long story short, if you say youre going to do something then you should do it, what effectively happened was, they took the money (full retail value) then took a week to mot the van, change rear discs and pads and one tyre. Never ever again
