I ordered an Albizia Julibrissin Rosea – Silk Tree. It arrived in awful condition — thin, unhealthy stem, broken branches, wilted foliage, and a cracked pot. Packaging was crushed and torn despite being marked as containing live plants. I returned it at my own cost. Gardening Express refunded only the purchase price and refused to cover return postage, even though the plant was faulty. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, retailers must pay reasonable return costs for defective goods. Worse, when I tried to resolve this, their support system warned that following up could cause my query to be marked as spam and pushed further down the queue. After weeks of waiting and even sending a formal Letter Before Court Action asking for the return postage and letter costs, they still ignored me. Poor product quality is one thing — but ignoring consumer law and discouraging follow-up by threatening to mark customers’ emails as spam says a lot about their attitude to service. I wouldn’t recommend buying from them.
