Terrible customer service which has turned non existent. Spent around £130. Waited ages for delivery. Lavender practically dead. Plant in smaller than advertised pots. Other plants were fairly small in general. One had brown leaves. Complained, had an initial response 21st June, asking me for details, I responded quickly with their required answers. Nearly 3 weeks later I have heard nothing back and am left with 2 plants which I can't throw/plant or return because I've had no response.

I have had good plants and service for a few years from Gardening Express, however, this year is really bad. I ordered plants and an arch on 10 June and only one of my plants has arrived and it is 8 July. I have emailed twice and no response back. I don't know what has changed this year but they need to let people know if there is a problem, not leave us hanging. I will not buy from them again.

I’ve been a customer for a while and it has been mostly ok. But latest order arrived - only part delivered, badly packed, damaged and dead. I’ve sent photos and no response. Shall not buy again.

Only part order turned up after a long wait, not got the rest of it, 90% of the plants are dead, no response from customer service, if there is any? £143 totally wasted, avoid avoid avoid

I had a large expensive order but three plants arrived in very poor condition one was dead, the other two were so badly packaged the stems were all broken off. I complained and was told to water them. I duly watered them they of course were still dead and all the stems remained broken. I emailed again but no reply. I wrote a letter to the owner but he has never had the curtsy to reply. I am very disappointed at their very poor customer service. I have had no refunds for any of the three useless plants . I had spent a lot of money and I have never had such poor customer service from a garden company. In contrast Thomson and Morgan delivered one plant that was not in good condition but they replied to my email immediately and refunded me immediately, their service was excellent unlike Garden Express who never bothered to reply to my letter or emails. Thomson and Morgan’s customer service was excellent and I had a refund in less than 24 hours . You judge a company on how well they handle when you have a problem with the product.

I ordered so many plants and they all came poor quality and damaged. Now I been trying to contact their so called customer service department and no reply. They give other online retailers bad name.

Still waiting for an order placed on 28th May, now 26th June, completed the contact forms and sent numerous emails had no response. Do not buy from Garden Express!!

This outfit must be the most incompetent and uncaring online garden centre in the country I've placed orders with them before and it's been hit and miss, whenever I send them an email asking where my purchases are they always send me a standard curse reply which provides no current info. I ordered a fushia plant on the 14th May, they had my money and I heard nothing until 6th June when they advised me it was on its way - never arrived - after a number of unanswered replies to my emails - nothing,no acknowledgement no replies from them at all.On the 24th June after another email I forwarded to them finally got a reply- they don't know when they will be able to send the plant and can't give me a delivery date. They are so so unprofessional, customer service is non existent,take your money and delay in supplying the plants they advertise - by months. AVOID

My collection of plants were completely squashed, one so badly that it was almost a ball of slime. I have nurtured the rest but two more have since died. Via email, I was asked to send photos, I did this twice but am still awaiting a further response. It’s been some weeks now and still nothing. I really have been dissatisfied with the quality of the plants but I have to say this was mainly due to the poor packaging. I am appalled at the lack of customer service. Please be very cautious about ordering from this company.

Absolutely terrible company, have bought from these twice now and never again! First time, the plant arrived and looked half dead but we managed to save it and put it down to a ‘one off’. Second time, ordered a supposedly ‘rare, unusual’ clematis (we saw some a few days later at the local garden centre) which was not only expensive but again arrived in a dreadful state looking half dead. Once more we tried to salvage it but this time it never recovered, we contacted customer services expecting a full replacement especially as we’d only had it just over three weeks and was supposedly covered by a guarantee. We provided photographs of the obviously dead and dried up plant only to be asked, by Liam, to send more photos as ‘was hard to tell’ he then told us we needed to post back the dead plant (at our own expense) before they’d post a new one to us. I asked for clarification that we had to send back the dead plant at our own expense and what was the point, only to never receive any more communication. My advice, steer clear of this tinpot company and support your local garden/plant centre instead, you’ll not only receive fresher plants without the expensive postage costs but you’ll no doubt get much better customer service should you encounter a problem. Avoid!

It’s now more than 2 weeks and my order has still not dispatched there is no customer service!! Which is so annoying I keep emailing them but only to get an automated response! What’s wrong with them?? They were fine last year😡

Still waiting after a month, several emails and filled out contact forms with no response, no phone number for direct contact, wish I read the reviews before placing the order. If the tree ever turns up my quality expectations are very low based on other comments read

Order plants almost 4 weeks ago. Sent 2 out of 5 plants almost 15 days after the order. No response from email contact forms, there is no number to respond. I’m left guessing if my plants will ever turn up or even how to get a refund. Worst company I have ever ordered anything from online. Never again!!!

I ordered from Gardening Express based on their decent Trustpilot rating, which now I realise is completely misleading. They seem to be running two separate Trustpilot pages – one with a 3.9 rating and another with 1.2 – both for the same company. It's incredibly deceptive. As for my experience: absolutely terrible. The estimated delivery time kept changing – first it was 3–5 days, then 5–10, then 10–15. Still nothing. No tracking number, no updates, no order. I emailed multiple times asking for a status update and eventually to cancel the order – zero response. No refund, no product, no communication. At this point, it feels like I’ve just been scammed. Looking back, I should’ve trusted the negative reviews, not the inflated ones. Avoid Gardening Express – completely unreliable and borderline fraudulent.

Waited almost a month for delivery. The most expensive item we ordered, we didn't receive and they tried to pass off an inferior variety in its place, hoping we wouldn't notice. Not one of the plant we received were anything like the pictures or description. Trying to get hold of anyone to resolve issues is impossible. No email, no phone number and just a bot that takes you nowhere. You can fill in a 'contact' form but don't expect a reply. This is dreadful company. If you go to Trustpilot, they have two entries make sure you read them both as most of the bad reviews (500 recent ones are hidden away on the smaller one). This is to dilute the fact that all their recent reviews are one star , apart from really obvious fake 5 star ones.

AVOID AVOID AVOID. They send you dead plants then do not respond (I’ve sent three emails with photos, see below). My plant was dripping wet and stank from root rot

I placed an order with Gardening Express on 19th May 2025, expecting delivery within their advertised 3–5 working days, or up to 10 working days during peak periods. Despite these stated timelines, I had not received my order even after 11 working days, prompting me to contact customer support repeatedly. Starting from day 11, I sent several messages to follow up, only to be met with automated responses offering no real update or resolution. It was only today, 6th June 2025, that I finally received a reply from an actual person – a Customer Support Manager – who informed me that my order had been cancelled and a refund issued. At no point did I request a cancellation. I was still within the updated 10–15 working day dispatch timeframe, and I was willing to wait a little longer, especially since no delays were properly communicated before this point. The cancellation was not discussed with me, nor was any alternative or explanation offered other than "we're still within SLA." This experience has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. Not only was I left in the dark with no proactive communication, but I also lost the opportunity to receive the plants I had carefully selected and was excited about. The customer service was impersonal, dismissive, and unhelpful, and cancelling the order without my consent feels like a way to avoid fulfilling obligations rather than genuinely resolving a customer issue. I will not be ordering from Gardening Express again, and I strongly caution others to consider the poor service and lack of transparency before placing an order.

I ordered two plants on 13th May, they arrived just over two weeks later. One was a lovely healthy plant but the other was awful, it was a flamingo plant costing £39.95, the plant is nothing like the picture which I would accept as plants obviously can take time to mature however it is also covered in black spot and all the leaves are deformed. The website says I can return it for a full refund but I have to pay postage, it is two meters tall and I am reluctant to pay postage on a plant that should never have been sent out, I have contacted them 5 times now with photos and had no reply or acknowledgement at all. I will never buy from this company again.
