I’m still waiting for a delivery placed over 3 weeks ago. They are not responding to messages in contact form . How can they be allowed to get away with such consistently poor service ?

The same experience as many other reviews. Of our recent order for 9 plants, 6 were delivered after 3 weeks and the remaining 3 have still not been delivered after 5 weeks. 4 of plants delivered had clearly been neglected, the 2 pulmonarias were clearly unhealthy, the few leaves on them had yellowing leaves with brown diseased patches, the 2 evergreen ceanothus had lost most of their leaves with just brown stems remaining. Despite contacting Gardening Express immediately and then sending the requested photos, there has been no response. Be warned, this company have no phone number and do not publish an email address so are very difficult to contact. Also they have brilliant returns policy , the customer organised returns at their own expense. Effectively they can just sell rubbish and get away with this. Go to another company like Crocus - they may be a bit more expensive, but they have been excellent in dealing with any problems with plants with prompt refunds.

I purchased 4 Bisset Bamboo plants that are advertised as 'Supplied as bushy plants in approx 1.5-2.5 litre containers". At 80-100 cms. What I received are 4 spindly and brown plants for £80.00. Wish I could upload photos as they are laughably not-as-advertised.Shipping was also a long process. Avoid!

If you are wanting to purchase dead trees from a company who are not willing to do anything about it or even respond to your emails then Gardening Express are the best in the business. They state 7 -10 working days during high season for delivery, this was more like 20 days. When the trees arrived half were not fit for purpose and were well and truly dead. I did recieve an initial email requesting pictures of paperwork, labels, trees which I duly returned in the hope of a resolution to be told trees are hardy and they will be fine. It was after my follow up email stating the trees were dead with supporting pictures that all correspondence from them stopped. I have tried numerous times to contact them stating their guarantee and asking them to resolve it. Unfortunately my emails still go unanswered. Please avoid purchasing from this company.

They sent plants that were dead or nearly so, and completely ignored my repeated attempts to complain and get reimbursement. To be clear, the person who packed my plants will have known just how weak and neglected they were, yet still sent them. Appalling business, shop elsewhere.

I placed an order with Gardening Express almost a month ago, and unfortunately, only part of my order has arrived. There was no communication about the delay or why the rest of my items weren't sent. After I reached out via email, they responded saying they were not happy with the quality of some of the items and decided not to send them—but they never informed me beforehand. As of now, I still don’t know whether the remaining items will be sent or if I’ll receive a refund. The lack of communication is very frustrating. That said, the items I did receive were of great quality, and the packaging was excellent. I was really impressed with that part. However, their customer service and communication need serious improvement. It's been over a month, and most of my order is still missing with no updates.

I ordered 6 plants, four arrived of which two were worthless. One, a Camelia had its top branches dry and shrivelled and must have been like this when packed, (not watered and left to dry out before packing). The other, a Lilac was not a plant at all, just a root!. So I sent a photo of the damaged plants and their enclosed receipt. This was followed by a barrage of questions about packaging, labels on each container and on an on, just making any complaint an impossible problem for the customer. Obviously no intention to replace, just pocket the cash and do nothing!!

I am very disappointed with my last delivery from you, the daffodils were poorly packed so most of the compost was scattered in the box. They are past their flowering stage as all the flowers are dead and I ordered two types, Jetfire Dwarf and Double flowering Tete Boucle dwarf in bud. there is no way of knowing which is which there are no labels and the variety which should be in bud are well past it with withered flowers. The 7 Hyacinths are a complete disaster all but one have withered flowers and are well past flowering. The one that is flowering has little time to go before it is dead. The Peonys are a poor bunch, some are moist and dark compost sticking to them and others are little bits of dry cutoffs, I am unsure that they will grow. The roses were well packed and in good condition, I wish I had just ordered them. I would advise better packing as the roses were selotaped with Hyacinths at the bottom of a tall box, mostly fresh air so when trying to get them out of the box I got multiple thorns in my hands as it was not possible to see the roses as they were in a blue bag and not easy to separate from the Hyacinths. All in all this is the poorest delivery yet. I would have taken a photograph of the disater but I do not have my moble back yet.

I placed a large plant order with Gardening Express and almost every single plant arrived in poor condition – many had no buds or flowers despite being advertised as blooming, some were clearly dead. When I contacted customer service to request a refund or return, they completely dismissed my concerns and told me to just “give the plants a good drink.” This is not customer care – it’s deception. I strongly advise others to avoid this company. Truly disappointing experience.

Just a warning not to buy from Gardening Express. I bought 5 Cafe Au Lait Dahlia tubers in the autumn. They didn't look great at the time I bought them and I probably should have complained then. I'm a fairly experienced gardener and know how to look after tubers over winter - all carefully stored in sawdust. Not a single one sprouted (while all the rest of my dahlias sprouted fine) I wrote to GE and they said "We are unable to cover these as they require additional protection during the colder months to enable them to thrive." All that money down the drain

I ordered two trees and two strawberry plants on 30/03. At the time, their website stated: “Our current average Dispatch time is approx. 3-5 working days for all items in stock/season, but please allow up to 7-10 working days for dispatch during peak season/around public holidays.” Fair enough. But by 10/04 – nine working days later – my order still hadn’t even been dispatched. I emailed to chase, only to receive a vague “your order has now been picked” response on 11/04. No dispatch confirmation. No tracking. By 15/04, still nothing. I emailed again, pointing out the ridiculous delay. On 16/04 I was told my order was being dispatched that day. Great – except as of nearly 6pm, it still hadn’t been picked up. So, by their own admission, the plants have been picked and sat in a box somewhere for six days. No light, no water. No care. It’s utterly shambolic. I’ve had orders from other suppliers arrive the next day. Gardening Express, by comparison, feel like a case study in how not to run a business. The only thing they’ve delivered is frustration. I wish I’d read the real reviews – not the suspiciously glowing ones littered across their site. Based on this experience, I’m now just dreading what will actually show up. If it’s not shrivelled, half-dead rubbish, I’ll be shocked. Their customer service is terrible, their dispatch process is laughable, and their competitors are miles ahead. Gardening Express? More like Gardening Regress. A cowboy outfit that isn’t even fit for a rodeo. Avoid.

I bought 2 snake plants and they were dying within 4 days of them arriving. I stupidly didn't check Gardening Express 14 day guarantee (until today) and decided to try and save them by repotting the plants in a better draining potting mix. When repotting them, I discovered half of the plants had soggy, rotting roots. I did not water these plants after checking the soil, so i can only assume they were over watered prior to dispatch. V disappointed with gardening express, and the plants provided.

I ordered 8 plants to fill a gap in our hedge. No telephone number to ask questions, but had some email communication to give me an idea of spacing required. All OK so far. Then after ordering, two of my eight plants arrived. Confused, I called to see where the other 6 were? Assured they were coming soon... well four did, three days later. The other two got 'lost in transit' so I was offered a refund. No apology, and nothing done to make amends. The plants themselves were OK but you couldn't make it up!

I purchased: Ash & Steel : 7-piece Heavy Duty Stainless Steel Garden Tool Set - Essential Garden Tools Bundle This was for my Son's birthday as he was in the process of buying his first home. Unfortunately he the purchase didn't complete until October 2024 so has not used any of the tools until February 2025. The very first time he used the spade it snapped!! The response I recieved was "Unfortunately, these are not covered by our guarantees". Rubbish and not fit for purpose, so is the spade!
