You cannot get hold of them - there is no number to speak to anyone. I never leave a bad review but I am so incredibly frustrated. It has been 7 days of being told it will be delivered and talking on the phone to delivery company and being told yesterday they garantee it will be this morning, to be told this morning that is has been sent back to sender due to damage? I have tried to get hold of gardening express and to my emails they respond with a a generic email answering nothing, telling me to not email more than once. This was a Mother’s Day gift and I have missed work waiting around for it to be delivered. I have never known such terrible customer service. Do not buy I can’t get hold of anyone to get a refund and I have missed mornings of work

Bought a phoenix canariensis palm. The price should have been £250 reduced to £99. What a bargain I thought. Until it arrived. They had phoenix canariensis palms slightly smaller priced at £99 but had sold out. I thought I wonder if they have just upped the price of the cheapest palm and then listed the cheapest one as out of stock. I am posting a picture of the one on their website and the one I was sent.

Just don’t. They sent a standard rose last yr. came with no root system or branches. I complained but said “see how it goes “ I’ll tell you how it went. Just 1 tiny shoot has grown in 9 months. They don’t care

Ordered two Ash and Steel tool bundles from Gardening Express. They arrived with tools missing, which were later supplies separately. Both hand forks bent our of shape within the first five minutes. We were partially refunded. On first use the spade folded inside out. We were informed we were outside of our guarantee period and nothing could be done. All the tools were used for light work only. Highly recommend anyone looking for tools steer clear of this company; how they can sell this tat in good conscience is beyond me.

This is a very bad company to deal with. I purchased over £100 worth in plants and when I got my delivery two of them were came in a very bad condition, after being back and forth with them via emails because you cannot speak to anybody on a telephone, they just washed their hands and they didn’t want to know anything about it. So please think twice before you spend money with this company, as they don’t care. Very bad customer service, absolutely disgraceful.

My ceanothus californian lilac tree arrived exactly as described well packaged. Very healthy and a great price. Great communication. Will definitely ordering again 👍

Terrible service do not order from them I ordered 5 x 2 small trees of the items have not been received I contacted GARDENING EXPRESS LTD and they told me that they have been delivered I explained they had not and they disputed this I asked them to ask the courier but they just keep asking me to take pictures of the 5 plants received I am abroad until march and they say they will not refund until I take pictures of the trees I have which seems strange as I am not disputing that I have received the 5 trees their support is just someone who goes around in circle trying to wriggle out of their responsibility i had make a dispute on my credit card the first I have ever done so. Best use one of the more reputable suppliers just look at the reviews on here have you ever seen on so low at 1.2 this says it all about this outfit shame I could not give none as 1 is too much

I bought online a ‘Large Snowy White Cyclamen’ plant on 1 Dec 2025 from Gardening Express. The plant arrived 18 days later in a dreadful state. The packaging (a long thin brown cardboard box) was far too narrow & tall for the plant. There was no packaging material - nothing. Furthermore, the box was bashed & the top fully open exposing the plant to the elements. The plant was undersized, bone dry, with torn leaves, and the few white flowers that remained on this poor specimen were damaged & hanging. The plant looked like something you would see on the reduced/half dead trolley at a garden centre. What an absolute disgrace it was. Absolutely nothing like the stock photo on their website. Straight away I contacted the company. I took videos, photos etc of this plant & the packaging. There is no telephone number for this company, all correspondence is via email. They are very slow to reply. They state you need to provide photos, A4 white packing sheet (which I did not receive) white label of plant etc. I provided this. After a lengthy period they reply & again request the same information you have previously provided. You reply stating you have sent it, but you do it again & AGAIN they state we need the following … you get the drift! It’s like being on a hamster wheel. It’s like they are being deliberately evasive & they are just trying to wear you down so you stop contacting them. Not once did they apologise or were even empathetic. It is a very strange shopping experience that I have never had before. I have read on other review sites people describing this firm as ‘cowboys’ & ‘cons’. All the negative terrible reviews are similar to my story. I wish I had read the reviews before my purchase. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY! You might as well go & throw your money down an open drain. How Trading Standards & such like have allowed this Company to continue to trade is beyond me. Believe all the terrible reviews you read - they are true, avoid!

Incomplete Delivery and Uncontactable Customer Service I wish I'd read all these other reviews before ordering! My order was delivered (over a week late) missing the two main items – though these were marked as dispatched – they don't provide a telephone number and there is a backlog on responding through their website. And the courier wouldn't engage as complaints have to come from the sender. It now traspires that even though part my consignment was returned to them undelivered, they didn't do anything about this and are now requesting a long list of photographs – including of the paperwork which, several days later, it's a miracle we haven't disposed of.

Ordered plants arrived in a bad condition. Contacted your company many times, you asked for pictures l supplied two lots at two seperate times. Since then you have stopped communicating with me!! Plants dried out/badly damaged or in poor condition one with all the flowers missing! Flowers weren't in the box so sent out like that! Squashed and rammed into box. I've since sent a few more emails been ignored!! Do not buy from this company they send out poor plants and ignore issues they cause. I've read plenty of complaints l wish I had read them before I wasted 50 on these plants don not buy!

Plant missing from a delivery. Despatch note showed it had not been marked as being included in the package. When they were emailed they asked for photos of all the plants which had been delivered - why??? I could not send a photo of the missing plant! Clear photos of the despatch note were sent. Since that first initial contact i have not received any further information, despite five further emails to them.

First order of 2 Premium Holly standard trees one started to fade after 6 month the stem had been cut and got infected. Contacted gardening express and was offered ‘2 Premuim standard Holly trees full of berries what arrived were 2 sparce tiny standard Holly trees with berries you could count on one hand. All companies make mistakes but the customer service when asking for return was poor, no collection offered, no pre paid return and no refund until trees returned ( an expensive option due to the size of the box which was significantly bigger than the sparse trees inside). Dreadful service would not buy from them again and definitely not recommend Have tried to leave photos but option not available

First of all, the way the plants were packaged in the box was very poor. There was no protection for the foliage, which resulted in damage during transit as everything shifted around whenever the box was moved. They didn't even put a "Fragile" label on the box. The delivery service used, DHL, was of course extremely disappointing as well. After I chose to pick up my order from a depot, the tracking number disappeared, and I was unable to track my order anymore. I tried to call DHL, but they don't provide an option to speak with an operator. I wasted my time visiting the depot two days in a row before finally receiving my order, and I never received any notification from DHL at any point. In total, there was a three-day delay caused by them while the plants were damaged inside the box.

One star is too good for this company the box came damaged plants are damaged and clearly unwell they shouldn't of been sent I contacted them they virtually told me to suck it up and plant them anyway I'm a horticultureist it's not acceptable what they sent for the price never use this company there are plenty of good online nurserys

Pyracantha's grown with love & care Left your nursery 11 days ago for a journey of utter despair In a van lost in the Kent countryside going round & round When these beautiful plants should be growing happily in the ground Gardening Express treat customers with contempt & don't care promising to investigate when day after day I am left to wait This is simply appalling behaviour to a customer whom you have caused great distress & one whom will never ever buy again from Gardening Express ! I have given up waiting, issued a dispute with my credit card provider whom will investigate my claim of non delivery & I am confident of getting a full refund.

I ordered 3 Premium Quality Topiary… I ordered 3 Premium Quality Topiary Buxus PYRAMID - circa 100-120cm and a PAIR of Topiary Buxus BALLS - Stylish Contemporary Box Ball PLANTS - LARGE. On 14th of September. The plants were ok but the service has been absolutely appalling. They only delivered the 3 pyramids and a single ball. I’ve contacted them immediately and today 26 October I still haven’t received an answer from them. This is terrible service. You are ordering and pretty much praying all goes well, otherwise forget about something being sorted out…

Bought some bare root fruit trees from them, on offer. They have failed to grow, I have emailed them to complain, and apparently these specific ones are not covered by their guarantee. A link to their terms and conditions was sent to me, which seem to state they would be covered, and doesn't mention any deals being excluded. Wouldn't purchase again as their guarantee appears to be useless. A couple of family members also ordered the same plants and all theirs have failed to grow as well.

I ordered a Magnolia tree in June 2025, it arrived damaged and broken. I immediately contacted them, with all pictures of the damage. I believed the courier company to be at fault for.their handling. I had an initial response.asking me for evidence whi h they missed given my initial email. I responded back snd never ever heard.back from them. Sadlynit seems that I am.l not the only one who has experienced this poor service.
