The Technician arrived promptly and wasted no time in looking at the offending equipment. He saw the problem immediately and produced the necessary cable from his pocket just like a magician*, connected it to the phone, and the problem was solved. (* He had obviously been told in advance the nature of the problem and had come prepared - not always does one follow the other.)
