Purchased new Whirlpool refrigerator late February 2022. (Was manufactured January 2022.) Late June 2022 it died. Whirlpool technician arrived July 12, 2022. Diagnosed problem as 1. faulty control board. 2. filter dryer 3. LOW ON FREON. NEEDS CHARGING. Advised parts not available and would be 21 days before before they could even inquire of availability from Whirlpool. That would be August 13, 2022. According to Whirlpool one part may be available sometime between September 9 and 27.. it is now August 22 and we have been without our #1 rated Whirlpool refrigerator for two months with no repair date in sight. I should just buy another refrigerator. I have found the repair parts at three suppliers but Whirlpool cannot reach out to them and if I repair then I would invalidate the warranty. I would repair but the need for the sealed system to be recharged is a bigger problem. Freon should last the life of the refrigerator. So there is a leak. The leak is big enough that in just four months it leaked enough that the compressor ran all the time. The tech advised me to unplug the unit to avoid ruining the compressor. A simple recharge of the sealed system would be a temporary fix and in three to four months it would need recharging again. Anyone familiar with air conditioning or cooling systems knows this. Home Depot says it is all on Whirlpool to make it right and Whirlpool blames it all on Covid19. Recommend any future appliance purchases be made from a local appliance center that services what they sell. Extended warranties are useless as you would still have the same problems. Would love to write the CEOs of Whirlpool and Home Depot but after reading many of the other reviews I understand I'm not the only one left "out in the cold." My advise is think twice before buying any appliance from Home Depot!
