After years of saying no when asked if I would like to apply for a JCPenny credit card, I finally decided to do so. It was activated at the register with an employee who called to verify. After speaking on the phone (at the register) answering numerous questions 'to verify my authenticity' I made my purchase. Only to go to the salon and have my second transaction declined! The cashier had me call the customer support. AGAIN, I went through the same 'authenticity verification' in front of other customers. How embarrassing.
Part of this new verification was sending a text to my phone that I had to repeat back to them. I said I was just verified at the previous check out. Why are you doing this again? I asked to speak to a manager so I could explain why I am canceling my card. That manager Diago was rude and obnoxious. (Listen to the recorded call if you care) I hung up on him. Stop encouraging your customers to apply for a credit card if your going to embarrass them (twice in one day) at the register.
