Have used them for many years, with few setbacks. These were usually need to return goods not matching my order, for which eBay mostly provided a pre-paid return label.
When eBay account is linked to user Paypal account it provides extra security layer especially if logon username/password are used each for purchase.
There are extra eBay bonuses too; each purchase gains Nectar points, and some sellers allow a discount code shown at top of page, which can be as much as 20% - but this varies, and isn't on all sites but worth looking for!
