I bought my first Lion’s Mane grow kit and also bought a bag of substrate and liquid culture about two weeks ago. I was given very valuable advice and recommendations by Rory and William at Martian Mushrooms and they are the friendliest and one of the most knowledgeable guys you’ll meet if you’re starting out on this journey. Within a week, the Lion’s Mane took shape and fruiting bodies appeared and they quickly grew into larger fruiting bodies. The rate of growth was actually quite surprising fast and once you’ve moved it to the fruiting bag and keep it moist, the growth accelerated (probably 0.5mm a day). Like anything organic and natural, mine grew at an awkward angle on the sharpest parts of the substrate so I recommend moulding the substrate so you have some “peaks” near the middle of the block before fruiting bodies appear. As prescribed, the liquid culture is taking longer and after two weeks, I am starting to see some sign of mycelium activity but time will tell. I’m giving this review a 4 star for now …only because my fungi are still growing and I’m still looking after the process and nurturing them. But all is looking good so far.
