I’m very disappointed with Monzo Bank. I borrowed £30 from my sister for food, but she was in a hurry and accidentally transferred the money to one of my other personal accounts instead of my Monzo account. To have the funds in my Monzo account, I simply transferred the same £30 from my own account to Monzo.
Shortly after that, Monzo froze my account without any warning or explanation. Later, they contacted me asking for bank statements – not only from my own accounts, but also from my sister’s – to explain where the £30 came from. This seemed like a completely over-the-top and ridiculous reaction to a simple and legitimate transaction between close family members and personal accounts.
I felt like I was being treated with suspicion over something entirely innocent and explainable. Monzo’s behavior was unprofessional, unclear, and caused me a lot of unnecessary stress. I wouldn’t trust them with any serious financial matters.
I strongly advise others to think twice before choosing Monzo – even small, completely legal transactions can turn into a major hassle.
