My account was frozen withiut my consent, like it was unprofessional of them to freeze my account without letting me know for the past two days i cant make use of my money i can’t buy things, am definitely not recommending monzo to other people cos customer service is bad and they do things to your own personal account at their own will

Game over with Monzo really had enough!! Compalint made in July after being caused major embarrassment returning to UK Thanks to bad advice and wrong information from Monzo Compalint not resolved with zero communication throughout and no outcome. Deadlock requested multiple times and promises made that I’d be contacted and never happens Customer well-being involved who start off as if they care and then disappear and send you back to be blatantly ignored at all levels No resolution offered no common sense whatsoever and not a shred of care that the actions and lack of information or help has had a detrimental effect on my mental health condition that I made a very sensitive discloser about so they were aware, seems no one’s cares what fallout they cause At a total loss now how to progress my compalint and refund that’s also been withheld by Monzo after company have advised they have refunded Getting no where fast except to hospital as CPN has had to get involved to support me and again advising Monzo of this no one seems to care All could have been avoided with communication and Monzo following its own complaints procedure but seems they can’t No doubt a patronising reply will follow Next step and all that’s now available is ombudsman and bad reviews thanks to lack of care and or understanding Well done Monzo you beat me into submission Happy to post screenshots of all the above as proof of truth Monzo have managed to break someone with health issues they are well aware of! They don’t care! No doubt will get the usual half baked apology and to get in touch to resolve as they have zero self awareness or care for customers just simply want to appear as if they care!!! Read the reviews when it goes wrong it does so spectacularly and they don’t want to resolve and close you down

Despite Monzo’s modern app design and popularity, the reality for some is starkly different— no communication, no access to your funds, and zero clarity on resolutions. That’s not banking—it’s a risk I wouldn’t take. They have the worst customer service on the planet i mean you could communicate with a corner shop better then this reckless bank !

Had a bank account with them for a few years. Cancelled it as I wasn’t using it, Wanted to reopen as I wanted to make a joint account with my partner and move all payments to Monzo. Told that I can never use Monzo again even though I followed all their rules and never participated in anything illegal etc. Email doesn’t even make sense. Said “ Hi Daniel 👋 We’re sorry we can’t say for sure and give you more certainty but we just can’t predict how circumstances might be different in future. We can tell you though that you won’t be able to open another account with Monzo right now, or any time soon”

They closed our account without telling us why. There is £5000 in the account which has severely damaged my business. This has caused us undue stress and sleepless nights. I have contacted them via phone call, email, on the app and everyone i have spoke to can’t tell me why. The team who closed the account don’t have a customer facing role and I’ve been waiting 4 days for a manager to call me when it’s supposed to take 48 hours to ring. We are being told that it will take 2 to 4 weeks to get this money back. I have lost my business and my home and can’t pay my guys on site because of Monzo

I visited New York on the 19th of May. I got a yellow Taxi from JFK to Downtown Manhattan. This is a standard fare of $74 Dollars that I paid on my Monzo debit card. When I logged into the Monzo app later I discovered I’d been charged $174 not $74. I immediately tried to dispute the transaction but the system wouldn’t allow for at least 7 days. I went on the chat but could only speak to the AI. The AI told me that it’s very common with New York Taxis to show the wrong amount and that the correct amount would show within a few days. This put my mind at rest. I did however keep trying to dispute the amount but the system wouldn’t allow until seven days had passed. When I got home I was finally able to dispute the trsnsaction. Monzo refund me on 26th of May but then they have reversed the refund on the 16th of July. They say that the merchant charge of $174 was correct. This is so crazy because a simple google search will tell you that the Taxi fare from JFK airport to Downtown Manhattan is a set fare. I’m so disappointed with Monzo and will come back to Edit this review once the team have got back to me.

You won’t get thru to human, but in the highly unlikely chance you do, they’ll hang up on you!! If you’re an international student do NOT trust or use this bank. You’ll get no service.

I’m very disappointed with Monzo Bank. I borrowed £30 from my sister for food, but she was in a hurry and accidentally transferred the money to one of my other personal accounts instead of my Monzo account. To have the funds in my Monzo account, I simply transferred the same £30 from my own account to Monzo. Shortly after that, Monzo froze my account without any warning or explanation. Later, they contacted me asking for bank statements – not only from my own accounts, but also from my sister’s – to explain where the £30 came from. This seemed like a completely over-the-top and ridiculous reaction to a simple and legitimate transaction between close family members and personal accounts. I felt like I was being treated with suspicion over something entirely innocent and explainable. Monzo’s behavior was unprofessional, unclear, and caused me a lot of unnecessary stress. I wouldn’t trust them with any serious financial matters. I strongly advise others to think twice before choosing Monzo – even small, completely legal transactions can turn into a major hassle.

I upgraded my phone, and set up my account on my new device while having my old device to support the process. Monzo immediately froze my account and I was unable to access my money. When I spoke to customer services they could not tell me when I would be able access my money. Once they have frozen your account for whatever reason, you will not know when you will gain access to it. The complaints and customer services will not provide a timeframe. Monzo isn't a great choice for everyday banking.

I transferred £7,500 into Monzo expecting to use it for a personal investment. Instead, they immediately froze my account without warning and have now been holding my funds hostage for days, with no clear reason or timeline. Every time I contact support, I’m told to “wait for a specialist” with no accountability, no timeframe, and zero transparency. They say it’s “to keep me safe” — but I’m not a fraud victim, I’m the actual account holder trying to use my own money. It’s now looking like I could be waiting weeks or even months while they “investigate” something they won’t even explain. This feels like legalised theft. If you’re thinking of banking with Monzo — don’t. Stick with a real bank that respects your right to access your own funds.

I requested a withdrawal two weeks ago, and I'm still waiting for the funds to be transferred to my bank account. Shortly after my request, the money in my wallet inexplicably disappeared. Frustrated with the lack of updates or communication, I decided to reach out to the email in my bio (EMAIL IN MY BIO). Thankfully, they helped me recover the missing money. While I'm relieved that the issue was eventually resolved, I found the delay and lack of transparency to be quite disappointing. Nevertheless, I would like to express my gratitude to Mrs. Lucy and her team for their effective support in resolving the problem. I highly recommend their services.
