I visited New York on the 19th of May. I got a yellow Taxi from JFK to Downtown Manhattan. This is a standard fare of $74 Dollars that I paid on my Monzo debit card. When I logged into the Monzo app later I discovered I’d been charged $174 not $74. I immediately tried to dispute the transaction but the system wouldn’t allow for at least 7 days. I went on the chat but could only speak to the AI. The AI told me that it’s very common with New York Taxis to show the wrong amount and that the correct amount would show within a few days. This put my mind at rest. I did however keep trying to dispute the amount but the system wouldn’t allow until seven days had passed. When I got home I was finally able to dispute the trsnsaction. Monzo refund me on 26th of May but then they have reversed the refund on the 16th of July. They say that the merchant charge of $174 was correct. This is so crazy because a simple google search will tell you that the Taxi fare from JFK airport to Downtown Manhattan is a set fare. I’m so disappointed with Monzo and will come back to Edit this review once the team have got back to me.
