I purchased a Goods in Transit policy and Public Liability insurance from this company, paying approximately £220 upfront. The total cost for both policies was around £1000. After about 30 days, I called to cancel the policies and inquired about the amount I would owe or be refunded. However, the system was down at the time, so I couldn't get a clear answer. I was informed that an £85 cancellation fee would apply, which I accepted.
The representative assured me she would call back to clarify the financial details, but I received no further communication. I assumed there were no additional costs. However, two months later, £580 was taken from my account, leaving me overdrawn and unable to cover this expense. The bank honored the payment, but I intend to dispute it, as I did not sign any contract or give permission for this withdrawal.
I have requested a copy of the phone call from when I canceled the policies. Had I been fully informed of the costs, I would have continued with the policies, as I have essentially paid for them and only used 30 days out of 335. This situation has caused significant financial hardship during a time when affording basic necessities is already a struggle.
