I was waiting to write a review of my Posh knee brace until my dog had her annual wellness vet appointment. Which she just had. Last year, the vet told me Pepper needed CCL surgery to address her limp, and referred me to a canine orthopedist. I checked him out, but was horrified at the details of the surgery he wanted to perform, the requirement to keep the dog crated for weeks afterward, and the lifetime increased risk of cancer at the surgical site. Instead, I opted for a Posh brace. To be honest, the fitting and adjustments were tedious and sometimes frustrating, and at one point I even had to return the brace for a serious tune-up. However, Posh was very good about honoring their guarantee, and making the adjustments needed. I mentioned to the vet that I was going to be bracing my dog's leg, and she was not very encouraging. To make a long story short, Pepper wore her Posh brace for many months. Along the way, her OTHER leg experienced the same injury. To economize, I bought a different brand of brace, one that had many positive testimonials, and which was not cheap. So for a while, my dog was wearing 2 different braces, one on each back leg. This week we had our wellness visit at the vet. The doctor examined both legs, and told me the Posh leg was sturdy and strong. The other leg, the one that wore the other brand, was not in the same condition. The vet told me to get a second Posh brace for that leg. Yes, the same vet who initially discouraged me from bracing instead of surgery, actually told me to buy another Posh brace after she personally witnessed the results. No, I don't work for Posh and like I said, the lengthy fitting processing is a fair amount of work, especially if your dog is rambunctious and uncooperative. But the results are what they are. And I will be ordering my 2nd Posh brace this weekend.
