We called for a plumber to inspect a concealed toilet system, as water was continuously running into the toilet.
We were quoted £65.50 for half an hour of work. Upon inspection, the issue was identified as a faulty fill valve that needed replacing. The company confirmed that the total cost would be £65.50 plus the price of the part.
On the day of the appointment, my wife dealt with the tradesman. He initially claimed that the entire toilet system needed replacing. Only after I challenged him on the phone did he agree that it was just the fill valve that required changing.
He then zoomed in on a box on his phone for my wife to sign and proceeded to do about 15 minutes of work, which did not resolve the problem and left the toilet in a worse state. Despite this, he charged us £150 for the work. When challenged, he insisted that this was the “standard price,” even though it was not what had been agreed upon.
This company appears to have a pattern of misleading and overcharging customers. I would strongly advise others to be cautious when dealing with them.
