When returning the car at Thrifty (booked via Rentalcars.com) in Split, Croatia we were 1,5 hr late due to traffic. No flexibility was shown. A full extra day has been charged. Even including the extra fee for a second driver. No flexibility at all. the only thing I could do was to pay. I have no problem to pay a certain fee for late return. But to charge a full day is out of proportion. Filed a complaint via their website. No reaction at all. Rentalcars.com has lost a customer for ever.
