I booked a prepaid rental car with Sicily By Car through Rentalcars.com (Booking ref. 615715664). The full payment was taken well in advance.
When we arrived at Bergamo Airport within the official 2-hour grace period, I was told there were no cars available. No alternative or assistance was offered, and Rentalcars customer support was equally unhelpful. We were left without the car I had paid for, forced to rent from another company on the spot at a higher price and for fewer days.
What followed was almost two months of exhausting correspondence with their support, who replied briefly and dismissively, without ever addressing the key facts. Despite providing clear evidence, they repeatedly denied responsibility.
In the end, the only way I recovered my money was by filing a chargeback through my bank for non-delivery of service.
This experience caused unnecessary stress, disrupted my vacation plans, and shows that even when you prepay, you may end up with financial, moral, and practical problems during your holiday. Strongly advise avoiding both Rentalcars and Sicily By Car.
