Comfy from the off no breaking in needed
Definitely NOT WATERPROOF in regards to the upper, mine couldn't even cope with short wet grass, feet were sodden. Grip good, ideal for long hikes off beaten track....but definitely NOT waterproof. As shown in the pictures I walked through very short grass and and this left my feet soaked!
