Awful experience. Swytch claimed their system fits 99% of bikes but clearly didn’t apply this to mountain bikes, despite selling them as compatible with mtb. We were told it was compatible with our Rockshox suspension forks but when it arrived, we couldn’t fit the axle. Transpires the Swytch wheel axle is 10mm which is hardly found on any mtb made in the last 20+ years. So Swytch told us to file down their wheel axle to fit the 9mm standard drop-out on our Rockshox forks. We did that but then found that the flared nuts got stuck between the drop-out and the stanchion outer.
Not wanting to have to then make modifications to the flared bolts (and don’t have the tools to do it), we requested a return. Initially Swytch wanted to charge us to return but eventually accepted fault and refunded the full amount.
Very disappointed with the whole process. They seemed oblivious / ignorant to the fact that their system is not even 10% compatible sigh modern mtbs. Added to that, they use old fashioned nuts and bolts and not quick release which is also what is found on the majority of mountain bikes made since the 1990s.
The idea is good but Swytch need to do proper homework and make sure their wheels, hubs and axles are quick release and fully compatible with all mountain bike front suspension forks, before making such bold claims about 99% compatibility. And not fobbing off customers at the sales point saying they are, or expecting customers to modify their wheels.
Added to that, we pre-ordered and it still took four months to deliver.
