My experience with Swytch was very good overall. We converted two of our ten or so road bikes to ebikes. One is a '74 Schwinn Paramount and the other is a Rivendell Rambouillet. The conversions were easy enough. The reasons I won't give these kits a solid 5-star review are that the elegant bikes we started with are now rather ugly, with thick wires running all over the place, and the bikes are much, much heavier. I am glad we got the upgraded OLED controls but the displays are hard to read while cycling. There are, however, many upsides. Ordering was simple, help when I ran into a couple of problems was quick and, most important, the kits work well. My wife is 76 with a bad hip and I am 73 with a bad knee and, while we still ride our pure pedal-powered bikes, motorized assistance is welcome on occasion. The main reason for purchasing these Swytch kits was to determine whether it might be worthwhile to pay $6000 or more for purpose-built road ebikes, we did not want to take the plunge if we weren't certain we would like them, and the kits have served that purpose admirably. We now know that we definitely like ebikes; the question today is whether it is worth $12,000 to upgrade to purpose-built ebikes that are lighter and look more elegant and that is a tough call since they might not work any better than our Swytch conversions.
