I feel that the service I got from Cafcass was absolutely shocking. Not just in destroying my family but causing mental distress and bringing my parenting into disrepute. The worker assigned to our case (note they call them workers not professionals !!!) didn't once listen to myself or my daughter. Her report consisted of everything my ex husband wanted, yet never once mentioned anything I raised or what my daughter said - so much for the voice of the child! There was evidence of domestic abuse to the point he was removed from the family home via an occupation order. Evidence of continued support from a domestic abuse charity that helped myself and my daughter yet apparently none of this was relevant to the case. The reports were full of lies and nothing put in there I felt was relevant to the case but this was allowed, why? However, after all this, when the final report was produced the worker back tracked and changed a lot of information was this because I challenged her and said I would be making an official complaint with evidence on her performance of my case? A substantial complaint was submitted to Cafcass with evidence. After this was investigated it was confirmed the worker had acted unprofessionally. It appeared all communications were via text message to myself but she visited my ex multiple times in person and spoke numerous times on the phone, she saw our daughter twice and that was enough to come to the conclusions she did. When I saw them each time walking into court together with his solicitor behind I even questioned if they were in a relationship. I was told by the Cafcass official who was handling my complaint that her notes were inconsistent and didn’t match the time line and evidence I kept and there was information missing in my case file. Cafcass were unable to take up the matter further as the worker had since left Cafcass. She is now an independent social worker and I feel for anyone who crosses paths with her. Overall Cafcass have caused continuous unnecessary chaos and stress into our family life. I asked myself numerous times, do they ever put their selves into the same position if someone was doing this to their children's lives ? My daughter is now forced to have unsupervised contact with her abusive father. I believe our Cafcass worker was unfit for the role they were asked to do.
