Returned a pair of unused cycling shoes and they refused to offer a full refund and instead issues a store credit based on the shoes being 'used' in their opinion. I literally tried the shoes on inside while sitting down and immediately put them back in the box. They claimed cleats were installed and the soles were scratched, which I know for a 100% fact that is not true. I will not be shopping on backcountry.com ever again.

BAD BAD BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE: Yesterday evening, Backcountry.com promised us one day shipping on our product purchase for an additional $15.00. Today, the day before we needed the product, when we did not receive notice the item was on its way, we called and spoke to a representative. The rep told us that we should have known that meant one day from when they chose to send the product to be shipped. There was no place, in any part of they buying process, including with the phone rep we spoke to, that revealed this could be days of delay. We paid for nothing and they were unwilling to refund the $15 although the item has still not shipped. I do not recommend backcountry.com unless you can search their entire web site to see if there is some scam you out of your money hook hidden somewhere.

Apparently this company now owns MotoSport.com. All the low reviews make sense. Heres mine: I don't really leave negative reviews, but I took the time to reach out to support and got the run around. Ordered these in a pinch (Weds.) and sprung for the expedited shipping to have them in time for a ride (Sunday). Looks like they missed the shipping cut off that day, and the following business day... they came in 3 days late. Not the end of the world - reached out to support and instead of an 'our bad' and at least a "we've credited the shipping cost back" I got an argument that I ordered too late for that delivery date, they don't guarantee the delivery date even if it was properly displayed, they can't deliver on a weekend even though the "at your door by" day was Friday (you can, they just didn't want to pay the extra $3 for Saturday delivery I assume). After some back and forth they offered store credit for the difference in shipping cost. No need - I'll spend a little extra with Rev Zilla or Rocky Mountain in the future - they've been bang on with gear I've purchased in the past. When you've got customers dropping $500+ on gear they typically aren't too concerned about $25, they're just giving you a chance at future business...

I purchased many things over the years from Back Country and took me a while to realize there is better out there. Returns are not free which is a bummer. Recently, I purchased an item and used "expedition" points. I ordered about $130 dollars worth of items and returned 1/4-a tank top ($34) dollars. They took shipping off (which I knew they would) and then removed 10 of the expedition perks. As a result, I ended up getting $15 dollars back despite keeping the remaining 3/4 items. They do what they want with those points. Nowhere in their policy does it state which item the expedition points get distributed to. They only mention it's added to the subtotal. When I called, I was told it gets removed from the "last item." Makes no sense whatsoever. Lost a customer. REI is the way to go. If not, shop individual brands. Back Country is not worth the hassle.

Backcountry gets an F- for their flimsy packaging. I ordered two expensive wheels with DY Swiss rims. The rear rim arrived with a massive crack in the rim and the front rotor is bent so bad that I can’t use it. There were inadequate packaging protections that should have avoided these damages They also get an F for follow up customer service in terms of responding to my emails about the damaged products they sold me. Will not ever use them again

I would listen to the reviews on here. I ordered a hat and it was taking forever to ship, so I called customer service and the package somehow got lost. I read the reviews on here beforehand but I figured i'd take a chance as it was just a hat. This will be my first and last time ordering from this website.

I ordered Hoka Bondi Coral size 7, after false advertisement that I’d get a 15% off discount, which I didn’t, only to find a pair of white biking shoes being delivered instead! Different kind of shoes different brand and different color! How can you mess this up?

Backcountry got my online order wrong THREE times. The first time, there was a rip in the jacket. The second time, they sent me the wrong jacket. The third time, they sent me back the jacket with the rip in it. They didn’t even want to work with me on the problem. I had to just send it back. Awful company. Do not order from them.

Been monitoring their "sale" items for a few months. Even their sale items are more expensive than anywhere else. do some research and go elsewhere.

My package was delivered to the wrong address. FedEx even posted a picture of the wrong place. I contacted back country immediately to inform them they told me to wait 48 hours so I did. Than they wanted to start the process over again. I disputed the charge and will stick with REI. THEY HAVE THE WORST SERVICE

They ship through fedex - hone delivery - which is notorious for delaying packages for days on end, and they don't take accountability for packages not received, even though they contracted out the logistics of fedex. Will not be purchasing through them again.

I sent a $1500 bike wheel back to Backcountry for return with their Fed Ex label on 3/13. It was received and signed for at their Utah warehouse on 3/18. As of 5/14/24, I have made 5 calls and multiple emails to get my money back. This is AWFUL customer service, I do NOT recommend at all. I have bought smaller items from them off and on over the years, but I think they've long since gone corporate and the accountability is zero!

If I could put MINUS 5 stars, I would. Very polite customer service, but I did 4 calls and sent 2 emails trying to get a correct shipping label with the correct items to return. 1st call, about 13 min, 2nd call -17 min, 3rd call-37 min. My emails got a response saying someone would respond. Backcountry never responded. On my last call, the very polite customer representative was still not able to figure out how to email the refund receipt with the items matching correctly the price I paid. She said she had to send the information thru her personal email because the email wasn’t sending. (?). The Customer Service is outside of the US. Almost every other sentences I would hear, “we want to give you good service, so sorry for the trouble”. However, the service is so bad, it’s to the point of wondering if it is on purpose to discourage customers from returning items. I don’t believe anyone can be so incompetent unless it is on purpose. I do not recommend this company.

They have the worst customer service. Not a legit company. I bought a Patagonia coat from them because it was less expensive than buying direct from Patagonia but it was a big mistake. Spend a few extra bucks and buy from reputable people!

Ordered item on sale, about a week later they called and canceled my order. They over sold the item. I asked for a discount on a comparable item. They would only come down to 20 more than competitors price. Lost my business.
