Having previously had great service and positive experiences with Barking Mad a few years ago, since changing ownership of local branch, we won't be using them again. The current owner) manager Julie is so rude, so snappy and abrupt, I have each time spoken to her come away feeling belittled and almost intimidated. Any simple concerns I raised about my dog, she snaps, 'well that's a change I have to put on form, isn't?', when asking for reassurance in emergency, 'if we can't get hold of you or a second contact, we will take decisions', and rudeness like 'you just listen to me ' or 'i'm not interested in your holiday '. Despite this, we were prepared to book with her for this summer, but apparently some 'host' has cancelled, she's struggling to find other hosts therefore can't take our custom. So petty and unprofessional.

Our dog recently boarded for a few days through Barking Mad Market Harborough. Louise provides a very professional service, and it was wonderful knowing that Honey was having a great home-from-home experience with a loving host family while we were away. Will definitely use this service again!

Barking mad dogs. So to Satisfy the adoption process. 1. Over 24 ✔️ 2. Had a rescue dog before ✔️ 3. No children ✔️ 4. Be at home a lot ✔️ Process 1. Complete an application and if you are successful you have a telephone interview ✔️ 2. Have an interview ✔️ once you have ass this you go to home check stage 3. Home check stage tick (was successful and have a text to say I went well and I will get the adoption papers in the post ✔️ Then I got this email Hi Katie, Thank you so much for your patience throughout the application. Due to the specific needs of our dogs, we seek experienced, balanced homes for our dogs. Rescuing a dog from abroad is completely different to rescuing a dog from the UK, often we have very little to no history on what they have experienced before they arrive at the shelter, therefore we cannot always guarantee how our dogs will react when they first arrive in the UK. Dogs are assessed at our Romanian Shelter, but this is a completely different environment to the homes our adopters provide. Because of this, and because of the current uncertainty we are all facing, we have an extremely tight adoption process. I have reviewed the information you provided and unfortunately I am sorry to say that I cannot take your application any further. Throughout your application and when we have been speaking you have mentioned you lead a very active lifestyle, one of our dogs may struggle with adapting to this lifestyle without another friendly, confident dog in the house to act as an Anchor Dog. Many of our dogs are also very scared of human contact when they first arrive and it can take many months for them to become comfortable around people. I'm sorry to disappoint you, and I understand this may be upsetting. If you are still keen to rescue, we would strongly recommend perhaps volunteering in a local rescue centre or at least visiting there so that you are able to engage with the dogs and staff, and discuss some of the behaviours or issues that can arise with any rescue dog. You will also be able to go and meet a dog, take it for a walk and spend time with it before making a commitment. Also, many UK rescue dogs have already lived in a home and thus they will be more used to a home environment. If you are able to gain this valuable experience, we would love for you to get back in touch. Meanwhile, if you are interested in keeping up with our news, please do join our Friends Group on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/556211644491608/ Kind Regards What a joke!?? If you want to adopt a dog that you would like to take to the Lake District hiking at weekends (then these suited to an active life style -I Have never heard such utter rubbish in my life)

‪I'm sorry to say but it has been Absolutely disgusted how I and my dog have been treated by the Cobham brunch. Whilst away on my holiday with my family they manage to lose my dog twice buy driving my dog Lucky from leatherhead which is were the host lived. They decided to put Lucky into a car and driven to her local park after telling barking mad Lucky does not like car journeys too much. Because lucky was driven to her local park of cause she ran back home were we was away. NOT once but TWICE in 2 days. Since being away poor Lucky was taken from leatherhead to Hounslow. All lucky belongings and her eye drops were left at leatherhead and all she had in Hounslow was a bed, lead and her food. She had no eye drops no ball no chewing stick and no brush. When luck was returned all her belongings were wet and when I asked why the reply was "I'm not sure as her belongings was left in leatherhead and was collected via Hounslow to back to Cobham. Since then naiboures have been knocking on my door of concern for Lucky and the will back me up when I make my complaint. ‬ Since being back my wife and I have to take it in turns to come downstairs we're lucky he crying (5am) and sleep beside her on the sofa and poor Lucky has still got her eye infection due to no drinking s for 10 days. Louis from Cobham barking mad came to my house to here my complaint and refused to let me explain and instead turned angry and aggressive in return Lucky bit him to protect me. Louis became angry to Lucky and decided to phone the police with fake allegations that I and Lucky attract him and criminal damage to his glasses which he threw down on the table when he was having his angry fit. I was arrested for abh but soon was released when the police release that this was false allegations and now the case is closed. My holiday fells like time ago now when it only been 3 weeks home. My holiday has been tarnished and I had 3 weeks anxiety waiting from the response from the police. I never been in trouble with the police and it been absolutely terrible experience. I have now told my story to my family and friend of the terrible service. I am no I been force to barking MAD to court as head office is not interested in my case. I will continue to add this to as many review sites I can.

I have never actually used Barking Mad, but did email to see about getting my dogs boarded while I was away. I asked when I could meet the boarder and was then informed that I could not! I run a dog walking business, but we did not board, and I have 4 dogs, so still needed to send them to a boarder, so was emailing round to find one I liked. I did offer them a higher (possibly 3) star, commenting as above, on Trust Pilot Reviews, as I always thought of it as a good legit review provider, but have since found out that it is very very bad! At first, there was a comment put on that their services do not suit everyone, fair enough, I thought, however, then my review was removed and I was informed that this was because I was a competitor! My review was about boarding and this was not a service I provided at the that time, so the only way I was a competitor was because I had 4 dogs! So this made me think how many other reviews do they get removed, and how bad are things really? Also, do not trust Trust Pilot Reviews! Their prices would be fair if the boarder, and even the franchise got a chunk of it, but most of it goes straight to the company! Remember when you are looking to board your dog for one night, they will usually ask you for two days minimum (three at weekends) as the first night is always the worst! Some boarders are up all night to ensure the dog feels ok on their first night, or they cry, they may never do it at home, but that is home with their family. They do not understand where they are or why you have left them, so unless they stay frequently, the boarder is in for a hard few nights until they settle, so do deserve to be paid for two days for their hard work, as if they were getting just national living wage, and you dropped them off at 7pm and collected them at 8am they would be due well over £100

I have just ended a phone call to this company who started by telling me that care for 24 hours was 24 Pounds. They then stated that as the period involved an overnight stay it would be charged as 2 days (48 Pounds). They went on to say that I would also have to pay 35 Pounds for membership. Then I was told that I could not meet or visit the carer and that they would collect and return my dog at a cost of 17Pounds 50p each way. The cost of caring for my dog for a 24 hour period would therefore amount to 118 Pounds. 118 Pounds to send my dog to an unknown address and put him in the care of someone I had never met. Barking Mad - Yes I think I would be to even consider using them!!

Awful experience with barking mad, Huddersfield. Paid for a trial overnight stay as it was our puppy’s first time away but sent for holiday to someone we hadn’t approved with 2 dogs we hadn’t agreed to. No update while we were away and postcard from pet arrived 2 weeks after we got home (they promise it comes home with your pet). Huge rip off. Very disappointed.

Now, to be fair, we can't comment on the care as we didn't even get that far. We were shocked at the price alone. £26.40 a day seemed very reasonable, until the lady I spoke to in a call centre on the phone said "it's a one night minimum stay, which is two days". Odd I thought, but still seemed ok I guess, until she told me it was £42 for our dog to be collected and returned (no option to take the dog ourselves) £42?? Where on earth are you taking him?? And not only that, but the woman doing the collecting and dropping off was not to be the person looking after our dog - she was merely a go-between. Then, with the additional £45 assessment fee, I was starting to feel a little ripped off already. Now I understand that BM seem to get very good reviews (although reviews can be bought these days - bear that in mind), I just don't think these kinds of costs are justified to look after a dog for one night. So thanks but no thanks - it'll be cheaper and easier if we cut out the middleman and find someone local ourselves. And at least we'll be able to meet the actual people looking after our dog! I've given two stars instead of one, because we obviously don't know what the service is like. I hope it's very good for those prices!

Money money money. These rip off merchants are horrendous. Cancelled on me less than 2 weeks prior to my hols with no alternative. Every cloud eh, that was a few years ago and I’m with a company now that blows them out of the water. Stay at someone’ house just the same only you get to go to the home to see where you’re dogs staying. Also you get to take your own dog so not charged £30 for these middle men to do it. Winner winner. Surprised this company still going. Petstay.net👍

New dog owners should be aware that you are NOT permitted to meet with prospective host sitters, or kow where you dog will be staying. In addition to the actual boarding costs, you will have to pay for your pet to be collected and delivered (you dont have an option) and if you decide to cancel your agreement within 14 days of signing you are not entitled to a refund of the lifetime membership (our local represented claims they are effectivly exempt for the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013- where customers are legally entitled to change their mind within 14 days. We were just too uncomfortable not knowing who/where our dog was going.

I'm sorry to say but I have been absolutely disgusted by how my dog Lucky and I have been treated by Barking Mad Dog Care, Cobham. Upon reading the information on the BM website, what they had to offer and all of the positive reviews, I was most attracted to the fact they offered individual care and that I was able to meet the host and see where my dog would be staying prior to booking - BM have massively FAILED these statements on this occasion and I therefore want to make others aware. Whilst I was away on holiday, the BM host based in Leatherhead, decided to put Lucky into a car and drive her to a local park, despite being told that Lucky does not handle car journeys well. Once at the local park in Cobham not leatherhead as advertised in the host profile poor Lucky in a panic, ran all the way to her home NOT once but TWICE in 2 days and obviously nobody was home to help her. Fortunately my neighbour was concerned for the safety and wellbeing of Lucky whilst I was away and fully informed me upon my return. When Lucky arrived back home all of her belongings were wet and when asked why, it was confirmed that they were unsure because Lucky had been transported from Leatherhead to another host in Hounslow without any of her belongings (toys, chews, brush etc) for the duration of her stay, but most importantly she was without her eye drops to help her infection which BD was fully aware of. So, for some unknown reason Lucky was moved without my knowledge, to someone I hadn't met and a environment that I did not know, without her medication! ‪Since being home, my wife and I have had to tend to Lucky crying through-out the night and taking it in turns to sleep on the sofa to ensure Lucky feels calm, safe and not alone. Unfortunately Lucky still has the eye infection obviously due to neglect/lack of care in my absence. ‪Louis from BMDC Cobham kindly came to my house to hear my complaint but refused to let me explain and quickly became defensive and aggressive - in return Lucky nipped him to protect me. Louis decided to phone the police with false allegations and as a result I was arrested for ABH and later released when the police realised that the claims were not true and the case was then closed. ‪My holiday has been tarnished and I have never been in trouble with the police. It has been an awful experience causing my family and dog stress and anxiety, caused by a company I thought was reputable.

This is not the version of events we believe to be true nor do we believe the statement above. Luis has faithfully served Barking Mad for many years and is a kind man with hundreds of delighted customers. For the avoidance of doubt, we do not expect our business owners or the support team at K9HQ to be openly abused and as such we shall continue to support Luis. In the meantime, we trust you will find a service which is more appropriate for your needs.
