“I took out 3 property policies with this company on the recommendation of the NRLA of which I'm a member .
I have noticed that the NRLA no longer endorse this company and I can see why !
Please try and read there terms and conditions and not just the first page which is all bells and whistles.
The word Temporary crops up a lot, and with there exclusions offers you a very limited policy .
I have been declined on what were in my opinion emergency's .
My advice is don't use them or make sure you read all there terms and exclusions”

Whilst I was abroad, A Syrian Refugee family that live in a house with one bathroom, had a problem with their flush system in the toilet. The toilet wouldnt flush, the teenager in the family reported the problem and originally got confused about whether the toilet was flushing and said yes. Because of this they refused to repair the toilet.
The Syrian refugee continued to use the toilet without a flush for about a week by using buckets. When I got back from abroad and called Better Home Cover myself they said that they couldnt fix it now as it was due to an earlier maintenance problem. I had even emailed them from abroad, and as usual they ignored my emails.
When I finally made the complaint official about what they had done, they sent a plumber to repair the flush and the family had a flushing toilet finally.
The service has really gone downhill to an absolute terrible level.
I am really disappointed that the NRLA recommended these people. How could they, they are right cowboys
Today in the same property, I have called them to say that the Boiler doesnt work which is insured through them. It remains on and They said they cant find my policy.
Then when I gave them my policy number. He had to confirm it with the office, lucky he said you called before 5 otherwise there would be nothing they could do...
So after 45 mins on the phone line, they have just confirmed that I have a policy with them... they are going to tell me whether a faulty boiler that wont stop is an emergency or not ?
They just told me its not an emergency and find your own plumber to repair it
These people are complete scams

“Would not help with blocked drain because property has 2 bathrooms. They said tenants can use other bathroom. Thief company who take your money then make good excuses NOT to pay. Avoid”
“I have been writing to you for so long. You failed to provide a service to me in one of my properties with a family of asthmatics.your engineer came to fix a leaking valve and promised my tenant to come back and fix the problem. Three weeks later my tenant asked me when will the engineer come to fix the valve. Bhc told me to hire a private contractor because we have told you the problem so it’s not our responsibility. With a great difficulty I managed to get get them to fix the valve.
I have paid them £780.30 for three properties and I am looking for a refund . They are not discussing this issue. For one valve on a radiator is expensive at £780.30 I have been with British Gas for 20 years and never let down. Landlords beware.”
“Have had boiler cover on 2 of my BTL with Better Homes, on 2 occasions they have sent engineers who do not have a valid Gas Safe ID number making Certification Invalid.
I have cancelled my renewals.”
“I signed up Betterhome cover via NRLA, Thinking Betterhome cover will delivery good service .... But I was wrong! My tenant has two small kids and her boiler has been broken since 3 weeks and have no hot water. Betterhome Cover have failed to repair the tenants boiler. They use Lim Emergency services who are saying that, because my tenant have a electric shower they refused to repair the boiler!
Anyone who uses Betterhome cover, your waisting your premiums! They won't respond to your messages or answer the phone.”

“I have landlord emergency insurance with better home cover. My property had issue with boiler and they can't fix in 7 days in this winter time. So I have to called local boiler company and they fixed in 3 hours. Also they don't have any ETA to fix the issue. Waste of money and time.”

Of course, we would never provide an incorrect number to our customers intentionally. The confusion arose from your query relating to making claims from abroad. Our 0800 number is able to receive calls from abroad.
The Email signature displayed the number of our sister company Better Home Company and this was clarified immediately.
