“My husband and I went for afternoon tea this afternoon and were very disappointed. We were expecting scones but there was only a small fat rascal. When I asked if I could have a plain scone, as I don't like dried fruit, I was told that wasn't possible. There were just 3 small cakes, one of which was a soggy éclair a fondant fancy which could have been Mr Kipling's and a raspberry tart.
This was just not good value for money and I think, at £32.50 each, Betty's is playing on their brand and being in York!”
“My husband and I went to Bettys tea room in York on Sunday afternoon. We didn’t have to queue for too long before getting a table. The staff were amazing, very polite and very organised !!
We decided on the cream tea which was quite expensive but lovely. My only criticism would be that they do not make plain scones. When I asked I was told I wouldn’t be the first to pick the fruit out. For someone like myself who doesn’t eat sultanas that’s exactly what I had to do which was disappointing !!”
