“Joke of a company. App crashed on me during payment, took my £90 but job was cancelled (as confirmed on phone with CS). Still waiting a refund and a callback from an agent days after. AVOID”
“Worst company ever made said it would take 60-90 minutes but I was waiting 5 hours I'll never use them again n if I could I'd remove the star but it asks for one to write review worst company I have ever contacted although Richford recovery was great there honest with there times don't leave you waiting for 5 hours”
“On the 24th November my work vehicle cut out - I called my garage to ask for a contact number for recovery, they said that 'breakdown hero' had been in to the garage to promote their business numerous times, so I called to arrange a pick up. After chatting with an advisor and giving all my details and card number, I was told I would have assistance within 90 minutes, a long time I thought given I was only 15 miles outside Edinburgh, but anyway I didnt have an option. So I sat for over 1 hour in a freezing van waiting, then decided to call and ask for an update. After being put on hold for 5 mins, I was told that the recovery company that was due to come had cancelled the collection, and there was no other recovery company able to come, therefore they could help.... SHOCKED that I had had to wait over 1 hour and I was no better off than when I started, I called my wife to google some recovery companies close to me ( I had no internet signal on my phone). To my surprise there was a reputable company 10mins away, they came and collected me within 15mins, charged me less than I was quoted by 'breakdown hero' and were much more helpful....
My advice, Google breakdown recovery near me if you break down somewhere and save a lot of faff and money....”
“Awful. Worst customer care experience I have ever received. Paid for a jumpstart by card and then told by the mechanic it was the alternator and there was nothing further he could do - fair enough but when I got a local mechanic out I was told it was the battery and off I drove after a Jump start. I have called 4 times and every time I have been told I will receive a call back. The last time I spoke to Henry who told me all they can do is make a request and he is sorry this has been ignored. I am still waiting for a call back and will be looking into what to do next.”
“Never turned up....left on the side of the motorway for 5 hours and still charged my card 220 pounds. that was 9 days ago and im still waiting on a refund.”
“I was guaranteed a maximum 90 minute wait at a £89 cost. Engineer took 2 hours to arrive, then when he got there he couldnt unlock my car, saying he was a breakdown engineer not an auto locksmith, he tried opening the car but couldnt so said i had to call the service again to get someone else out and that i would be charged extra. So decided to call someone else who came out in 20 minutes, at £20 and got in straight away! Calling back i managed to get my original cost of £89 down to a £49 call out fee.”
“Woman on switch sent first pick up to wrong place despite me ringing to say we were not at the location that was emailed we waited over 90minutes we rang to find out where the truck was to be told it had been cancelled and that they had tried to contact us which was unsuccessful dye to the fact that mobile coverage was poor. So we had to re-register and wait for up to another truck again we waited over 90 minutes for a truck to come from Preston we were on the M56 so God knows why a truck was sent from Preston. The first call was made at 16.31 we were picked up at 20.40 informed the switch there were 2 adults and 2 dogs the can on the truck was not big enough for all of us so we had to put the dogs in the car on the truck. Not ideal. The lad that picked us up though was very professional and pleasant but the truck had brake warning lights on and a big crack in the windscreen. A dreadful experience stressful and for my partner painful as I explained to the switch he was 10 days post op.”
“I was guaranteed to be seen within 90 minutes when I booked. After being called to confirm someone was on their way I then received two more calls saying that the breakdown company was too far away and they wouldnt be coming till they had been paid more money. Meanwhile I'd informed the garage we would get there before they closed. I rang back two more times to find out what was going on and no-one from the head office called me back when they said they would. Needless to say it was 120 minutes before someone came and the garage was then closed. Meaning I've had to take the morning off work to go and collect the courtesy car.
The breakdown gentleman was very polite and knowledgeable.”
“Never told an ETA of the service, then after a 4 and an half hours of waiting, in a car park told the person was not on the way, and that he had try to find me, despite being in a carpark of a maximum of 45 cars and mine the only of the same description..”
