“They are cheaper than their competitors BUT this comes at the cost of the worse kind of customer service when things go wrong. DO NOT RISK YOUR MONEY WITH THEM.
I bought a camera from them & took it on holiday whereupon it kept freezing. You cannot contact them by email or online form, which is against the Consumer Rights Act. Eventually I found I could contact them through Facebook Messenger but often they just ignored my messages.
As the camera was faulty & less than 30 days old, I requested a refund or brand-new replacement.
When I sent it back to them, they tried to state that there was no fault & would have to send it to Olympus for further testing, even though I had sent them photos & video evidence of the fault.
Eventually I got my money back via my credit card & Olympus apologised on their behalf though the whole process took several months to finalise.”
“Available to order does not mean the item is available apparently. Ordered 19/12 money taken immediately and acknowledgement of order. Phoned up after Xmas when goods not arrived and no further e Mail about delivery. Apparently available to order means that they order it and await arrival from suppliers who are not open until the new year. I ordered this to arrive before new year do that I could develop for exhibition. Terrible service , no indication of delivery times and had to accept refund and look for new suppliers. Never again. Most sites indicate delivery times.”
“I ordered and paid for a camera online about a week ago. Their website said it is "in stock". They took the money immediately but have done literally nothing since then. They never answer the phone, never answers emails, never provide any updates on the website customer pages or elsewhere.”
“I bought a skywatcher auto focus kit from Bristol Street Cameras , I waited about a week for the item arrived to my horror to find when I powered it up it would not work either by battery or by a nine volt power supply. I rang them asap and they would await skywatcher to inform them what they should do next. Three weeks later and I am still waiting for any Intel from BSC . Looks like I've wasted £59 . Never again will I buy from these people.”
“I ordered a battery charger and twin battery pack showing 'in stock' and paid online. over a week later had still not received the item. Phoned Josh in sales to be told that they didn't know when they'd be getting the delivery in. Asked why it showed as 'in stock' or why no email to inform me that they didn't have the items. He couldn't have seemed less interested if he'd tried! Total lack of customer service. Next day I received an email saying that there had been a mix up moving stock from one site to the next and that the item was not in stock. Looked online today ( a week later to see both items I'd ordered are still on their website and showing in stock (one of the items has increased in price too - so the site has been updated!). Total garbage customer experience and will be using LCE or Jessops in future (I'm happy to pay a small premium to get good service).”
“I have just tried to make an on-line purchase with Bristol Cameras and the transaction payment process appeared to stop mid-payment. The sale amount has been reserved (but not taken) on the credit card account, there was no on-screen confirmation that the sale was a success or failure, no email was sent, and my on-line account at Bristol Cameras states that I have no previous purchases. Also, the contact telephone number appears permanently busy. I hope this is just incompetence rather than a scam. Beware.”
