“In July this year I accepted a quote from Richard Abrahams, Elmhurst Windows, for a new porch installation to the front of my house. Due to a change in circumstances I needed to change the current installation to a patio style sliding door set up.
I had already had a quote from a large well known company, which did not impress me. When Richard quoted slightly over £2000 less, it was a no brainer, after all Elmhurst had been located in Whitkirk for over forty years and had good reviews. The offer was enhanced further, when Richard offered me another discount, due to the circumstances I found myself in, something he did out of the goodness of his heart.
I was told the job would be completed within six to eight weeks, and around that time I was given an installation date. Unfortunately a few days before installation it was cancelled, due to a problem with the manufacture of the door. The date had to be pushed back a few weeks, but it was installed on the 4th October,
The installer's were very friendly and efficient, the installation was completed without any fuss or bother to me, and everything was left tidy when they left.
So in summary, I would say I bought a quality product, from a very reputable local company at an unbeatable price, I am very happy. Thank you Richard and all involved in the installation.”
“i try not to write bad reviews especially in a pandemic but i have to say choosing Elmhurst was by far my worst decision in doing up our house. We ordered the replacement conservatory windows and doors in Nov and were told roughly Jan time line, it turned out to be March, i can deal with a delay in the circumstances and it's better than the April date we were given. The sales person was pushy, insisting on sitting in my kitchen in the middle of a pandemic, when i questioned this, i was told i get tested twice weekly, that's really not prevention. Either way i felt i was held to ransom, i wasn't getting my windows unless i let her in the house.
I ordered rosewood (dark wood effect) windows and doors with uni blinds (inside the windows). when they arrived some of the frames were scratched, Elmhurst told me that Rosewood marks easily, i've had the rest of the house done by another company and those windows turned up un damaged. At the end of the fitting, i was left with patio doors that didn't work, scratched frames and a missing window pane as it was measured up wrongly but Elmhurst asked me if i was happy with the fit, yeah happy with the fit of my damaged products, it was very disappointing. The frame manufacturer had to come out a week later and sort the scratches and the doors, he was here some time but was very helpful and succeeded. it never entered my head that a window/Door installer would not be able to install my doors successfully.
It was another 2 months before the window pane arrived, Elmhurst rang me initially and asked me if i would be happy for it to be fitted on a Saturday, i asked what time and was told i'd have to sit in and wait. In between times i'd already waited in for someone to come and look at my doors that wouldn't close, i was working from home and sitting in all day every day, i declined to do it on a saturday too. So two weeks later i called to chase the fitting, i was told as i'd declined a fitting date already i had to be patient!
The fitting eventually happened and the chap doing the work was very helpful. So then i rang Elmhurst and said what are we doing about these metal trims that have been left in my conservatory, i don't know anything about those. A week later someone came out the finish fitting the trims to my patio doors, took such great care, they scratched the frames of my patio doors and the manufacturer had to come out again and colour them in.
These were all fitted eventually and then on 20th May i noticed issues with the controls for my uni blinds, i emailed the service email address. Its not 15th July and still no sign of anyone coming to look at them, they'd been in less than three months at the point of me noticing a problem.
i noticed another scratch on the window frames that i just can't face calling Elmhurst about.
As i'm in my early 40's there's a significant chance of me needing new windows in the future, Elmhurst will not be on the short list”
