“Nothing says “I love you” like a black rubbery wedding ring. Really! You can wear it fearlessly when welding, wrenching and cabinetmaking (me) or making, firing and glazing pots (her.) You are demonstrating that the symbolism of the ring is important to you, while the “good” ring is kept safe and unblemished(-ish), reserved for top-hat-and-tails outings, while the silicone rings take the punishment and risk of loss that is part of everyday active life. Plus also, if they get caught on something that’s moving fast, they are less likely to take your finger off.”
