“I have order roasting pork joint from Farmison. I was surprised to see that the joint had hardly any fat on it. I took the picture and messaged customer service.the below are replies that I have received: “ Morning Estera, thank you for bringing this to our attention I've checked with our butchers and they agree that this looks like a wonderful joint. Sometimes the vacuum packing will compress the fleshy past of the meat and as the fat is harder, this can appear disproportionate. I am sure it will cook up beautifully but if you still feel there is an issue once cooked please feel free to get back in contact. Have a lovely Easter Bank Holiday. Kind regards,” So I have opened the pack and saw hardly any difference. I have messaged customer service again saying : “ Good morning, I have taken out the meat from the pack and unfortunately it did not make much difference. I will attach the photos shortly. My family are huge fans of crackling so this Easter they will have to make do without. ” Farmison’s reply : “ Good Afternoon Estra, I am sincerely sorry that the fat covering on this joint is not as expected, I too am I big fan of cracking so I understand how disappointing this must be for the family! I hope the joint cooked up nicely for for you all and you were still able to enjoy.” I was not happy with the joint and all customer service team have been telling me was that the “joint will cook up nicely”…. Well, it didn’t! The meat was tasteless and dry. This is partly due to lack of pork fat surrounding the joint. I have been using different online butcher ever since and seeing how quality of meat is so much better I will not shop with Farmison again.”

“I have eaten all the present saucepan ready meals and found them all simple to cook and extremely tasty with plenty meat and appropriate vegetables etc. I was hesitant about the lamb madras and chilli con carne as my wife dislikes highly spiced food but they are both relatively mild so you can add spice / chilli to your taste. I also add a piece of dark chocolate to the chilli when cooking to deepen the flavour, Texas style. I have also eaten the full range of suet puddings, cooking them in the oven for 40 minutes. Without exception they are packed with full flavoured high quality meat. The packing and packaging for transit are excellent.”

“The meat is excellent in quality and the ease or ordering/delivery is great too. Last purchased beef short ribs, cooked on a BBQ (olive oil, salt, pepper rub) for 3.5 hours at 130deg. Absolutely fantastic!”

“Bought a selection of meat products selected fron the range, I had pork, lamb beef and bacon. All of them were excellent quality and a good variety at wxcellent value for money. The service and packaging was great.”

“I have bought many times from Farmison’s and always find them very helpful and friendly. The prices aren’t the cheapest but you have to pay for quality. They have a great ethos in the supply chain. Eat less, pay a bit more. But Farmison’s”

“Initial order fell short of expectations. Ordered large very expensive rib of beef, but it had not been butchered or trimmed well with too much sinew, and inter-muscle fat left behind. Some of the fat had black mould. The joint would not cook upright and had to be cooked on its side and then carved on its side. Not ideal. Tasted well aged but had a hint of wet boot leather and suspect therefore had element of wet ageing. Sent complaint and received another joint of beef as apology. Good customer service. Second joint was a small joint rather than a direct replacement, but, was well trimmed and very nice, albeit expensive for the size. Had been aged well, but again from the taste I would guess had also initially been wet aged, and then subsequently dry aged, not 100% dry aged. The colour of the meat would support this, with it being a dark crimson and plenty of blood still in the joint, rather than a bright pink/red. Ideally for the price should be 100% dry aged. Finally, the eye fat and spinalis on both joints was fairly small, which I tend to find comes from smaller breeds and/or younger Heifers, especially if their food has not been properly supplemented through the winter. I will however be trying you again in my ongoing search for the perfect roast. Hope this feedback is of assistance.”

“Lovely meat but lots of out of stock items which don’t always seem to be replenished quickly enough. I don’t like that when I want a flat sirloin joint which usually costs £54ish I have to have one that you choose, I think you should list the breeds you have in stock and let customers choose their favourite. Packaging is fantastic, delivery prompt, and the quality is fantastic. Having meat from other sources wouldn’t be good for me…but please let us choose our favourite breed. I’ve been waiting months to order a flat sirloin beef joint 1.25kg Aberdeen Angus. It may be that you’ve had this in stock but without listing the breeds it would be pot luck what you receive. I also used to order 4 French trimmed lamb cutlets for £12.95 but it seems they are no longer available….don’t know why?”

“Hello, When I started to buy your products, Pork joints and Pork chops to start with. Everything was fine. the service from start to finish was very, very good. But then the joints and chops started having more and more fat on them, the products you supply are very good and cost a lot of money, but I was put off by paying for more fat than the meat on them. would buy again, but not knowing if I was getting a meaty joint or chop not sure. kind regards mark.”
