“The food is great, your customer service is non existent. I have tried numerous times to cancel a order because I ordered early and I get no acknowledgment of my emails, voice mails or your chat. The chat does not work ever, it does not allow for spaces. Horrible”

“This company is a scam. First week their delivery is 3 days late. There is very little dry ice in the packaging. But the food was cold. Second week the delivery was 5 days late. The food was hot and the smell was horrible. The packages were bloated like they were going to explode. They made me file a claim and send pictures. The claim was denied now they wont answer me in chat or email or phone call. They seriously sent rotten food and won’t accept responsibility for their action. This is a scam company. I wanted a good halal option but cookt is not it.”

“Poorly packaged!!!! Nothing is sealed inside the box and was freely thrown in the box. Nothing was cold and the box looked like it was kicked, thrown, and bewt eoth a bat...Tired getting in touch multiple times only able to leave a message. Would advise against buying from here until they get the shipping down. I would love to post pics but it does not allow me too.”

“**The worst customer service I’ve experienced\.** While I was browsing and selecting meals, I accidentally placed an order\. I immediately called customer service—within minutes—and politely explained that it was an honest mistake\. I simply asked them to cancel or reverse the order while I finalized my selection\. They refused to help, were dismissive, and showed no willingness to work with me\. What disappointed me even more was their complete lack of professionalism\. I asked to speak with a manager or at least have one call me back, but that request was ignored\. Throughout the entire conversation, I remained polite and patient, yet I was treated as though my concerns didn’t matter\. Whether the food was good or not became irrelevant after that experience\. Excellent customer service is what builds customer loyalty, and unfortunately, this company failed completely in that area\. Mistakes happen, but how a business responds to its customers is what defines its reputation\. Instead of trying to help a customer who made an honest mistake and called immediately, they seemed more interested in keeping the sale than earning a loyal customer\. That is a short\-sighted business strategy\. I hope anyone considering ordering from this company takes my experience into account\. I certainly won’t be ordering from them again\.”

“I ordered 10 meals with highly rated ones, and the quality was not satisfactory. They lack taste and flavor. Most importantly, they automatically subscribed me for the next order without giving any notification or warning, which was really frustrating and caught me by surprise. And the price was almost double the first time!! I felt like I had been scammed. I reached out to their customer service twice and didn’t get any response. This was really unprofessional, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.”

“Horrible experience. Not only was the food and packaging terrible when I tried it, but they renewed my subscription without my approval. I complained and explicitly asked for my money back, yet they STILL pushed through another renewal without authorization. Now they are refusing to refund me. Absolute scam of a billing practice. Avoid this company."”

“Watch out for the subscription that is not clear. Meals are ok- can get overcooked if your microwave is strong. Shame about awful customer service who insist on the subscription because I was 3 days late in cancelling. When will brands realise that customers are meant to be at the center of it all!”

“I really wanted to like this service because it’s halal, but the execution has definitely left things to be desired: 1. Food Quality: the food was very bland and at times inedible. The photo I’ve attached for example is the chipotle chicken meal, and you can see that the chicken was barely seasoned when cooked, and they just put a chipotle sauce on top. The meals also have limited amounts of veggies, like even the banh mi bowl only had a few carrots and two pieces of broccoli. At the time of ordering, the meals on the website lacked full nutrition info like sodium, etc. 2. Frozen: the meals are not fresh, they are frozen. This led to chicken meat being very dry when microwaved. What is the purpose of ordering these meals instead of going to a desi store and getting frozen halal meals in the frozen section? 3. Price: when shipping is factored in, it came out to be ~$15 per meal for my order, which is very pricey for poor-tasting frozen food. I could order fresh vegetarian meals from CookUnity at this price point. 4. Delivery: it’s very unclear when exactly your order will arrive. I got an email saying they had delays that week only after the order shipped out late. 5. Service Terms: my subscription renewed by mistake, and since I was leaving the country on a trip, I emailed customer service within an hour of receiving an email that my order was being renewed. I asked to cancel, and I was told they couldn’t cancel - only reschedule. Other subscription services provide more alerts about upcoming renewals and allow for cancellation periods in case something happens. Like another customer mentioned, the fact that they don’t allow for any of this comes across as predatory and against their supposed halal practices.”

“I tried two times of 18 meals each and I’ll say they are definitely not worth it. Apart from the halal tag, the meat is very dry. The spices are too mich in some and just bland in others. U also cannot see your order after it’s placed and my 2nd order came all wrong. Customer service was non existent. I ended the subscription after that. It’s a shame because i was really hoping to support a halal business company.”

“Awful company, both in terms of customer service and quality. As to quality, we received numerous meals that were unsealed and had leaked food in the shipping container. Other meals had poor quality and cut of meat, no seasoning/taste, and small portion sizes. The meals look nothing like the photos and ads you see online. Now, customer service is what brought this down to a 1 star review. The company never responded to any of our emails advising of the above issues. When we left comments on Instagram asking them to address the issues, they repeatedly deleted the comments. This even happened today on the date of this review. It’s one thing giving grace to a new, expanding business. It’s another thing when that business is actively taking the approach to hide and ignore legitimate feedback and concerns. It’s clear having an honest, ethical business is not part of your ethos. Sadly typical of a desi owned businesses. Overall, I would not recommend this company given how expensive it is. You’re better off buying from a halal restaurant if you have them near you or making your own food at home.”

“I was a previous COOKT customer, prior to relaunch I was very happy with the service & product, and resumed ordering after the relaunch, but this experience has been very disappointing. The meals now arrive frozen and, even after reheating, are watery, mushy, and lacking flavor. Marketing these as “fresh” feels misleading, especially when customers are instructed to freeze unused meals. The claim of a Michelin-star chef also feels inconsistent with the current quality. The new delivery schedule is another major issue - midweek deliveries defeat the purpose of having meals ready for the work week and make planning difficult. While the meals are halal and convenient, the use of canola oil and overall decline in quality are disappointing for customers seeking truly healthy options.”

“Absolute disappointment. First time customer ordered food December 27 checking with FedEx delivery date January 2. On the website, they claim 2 days delivery to New York. Just imagine your food is in transit for that many days.”

“I purchased as a hopeful customer, but would absolutely not recommend this company for the following reasons: 1. From the 8 items I purchased 4 meals were not sealed. This means that the meals had freezer burn, because now Cookt is freeze blasting the meals. Initially they claimed they were fresh never frozen, but we received frozen meals that were not sealed. 2. The first two meals, Korean Bulgoghi and Chicken Chipotle were so disgusting, my family threw up. We couldn’t bring ourselves to eat the rest 3. They claim to be halal certified, but are not. Muslim consumers appreciate honestly and transparency. 4. They claim to give back to the community but do not show where or how. The fact that the packaging is not sealed is a major food safety issue!”

“The spice and garlic are so extreme, I had horrible acid reflux and threw up. I thought western dishes meant not spicy food, but instead they’ve put South Asian-levels of pepper and chilis in everything. I feel like I have to throw away the whole order.”
