“I find both IG CFD trading platforms (stand alone and browser based) simple and easy to use. Both have their quirks and differences and I prefer the stand alone software. Both are transparent and easy to use (at least the functions that I use are) although there are some aspects where extra care is needed.
The data available on existing and previous trading is clearly presented and data extraction is simple making it extremely easy to keep a good set of records on one's own data storage systems. Funding the account and receiving money back is again very simple and efficient.
Customer service is easy to access and very efficient. There have been times when the upgrading of the stand alone software has caused problems but this has usually been resolved relatively quickly once an issue has been highlighted, however, these usually show a deficiency in the software testing before release.
Costs of operating an account are relatively minor, and the charges made do not seem (to me) to be in any way excessive. I would wholeheartedly recommend the IG CFD service to anybody. I cannot make any comment on the spread-betting or stockbroking sides of IG's business since I have no experience yet of using them.”

“IG is my main spread betting account because it's my favourite, it's as simple as that. I find the tear-off tickets and chart windows particularly useful as they allow me to arrange my screens the way I want them. The advanced charts are very good - so much so that I haven't got round to trying the MT4 offering yet! My only slight issue is that there is a requirement to place 2 trades per month in order to get the £30 monthly fee refunded. While I feel that's reasonable, I recently changed my trading pattern to a more long term outlook and as a result didn't fulfil the requirements - it would have been helpful if a warning had been sent, perhaps a week before the end of the month, to remind me that if I didn't place the necessary trades I wouldn't receive the refund. Other than that the only issue I've encountered has been a significant widening of spread overnight which resulted in a trade being stopped out - from the usual 2.5 pips to 12! However, it's only happened once so not a major concern. Overall I remain a very satisfied customer.”
