“As a Hindi translator, I tried out their Hindi level test to use to screen my team members but not only were several questions grammatically incorrect in themselves (some having zero correct options), all the prescribed answers were incorrect. It gave me 0/40 which is hilarious. I recommend an actual native speaker and Hindi language expert be employed to re-develop the test.”

“I have been with Cactus for about 4 years now, learning Italian with the same teacher Carmela. Carmela is an excellent teacher who has great knowledge and a good sense of humour; she often helps outside lesson times and fully contributes to our WhatsApp group. I have nearly completed the full programme, with just one 10-week course left. The process has been very enjoyable and becomes part of your life, getting to know people online and sharing relevant experiences. The prices are very competitive, especially the early booking discounts which are usually available. I shall miss the Thursday evening lessons when they finish!”

“I have completed Beginner 1 - 3 on-line Japanese and I am now signed up to continue with Elementary 1. Each course has been challenging (they become more so as you go along and progress, as you would expect). The tutors (such as Okuda) are friendly, informative and very helpful/approachable when asking questions. Cactus, as a company, will respond very quickly to any queries and all persons I have engaged with in Cactus have been very personable and helpful.”

“I've been learning Thai with Cactus for around 4 years now and have thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I've had two different teachers and both have been incredibly supportive, patient and thorough in their teaching. Starting to learn a language that has been close to my heart and achieving a decent level of competency has been incredibly fulfilling and I'd definitely recommend anyone who is on the fence to take that first step with Cactus!”

“I love these courses and actually look forward to them! They are online but you genuinely develop friendship with the teacher and other participants. Because they are online and we can join from all over UK (and abroad), we can carry on even to the more advanced levels. Even before covid, I had to stop my in-person Portuguese classes with Cactus just because there were not enough people who wanted to carry on into Intermediate levels at my location. But since we are now online, there is a group of us from all over who want to carry on semester after semester and although we did not meet in person, we feel like we know each other. Finally, our teacher, Ana is amazing! She genuinely cares whether we understand the material, goes over grammar with angelic patience (I mean it) and genuinely goes above and beyond for us, pointing to further reading, immersing us in spoken, written and even sung language!”

“Carolna is very nice and thorough and I feel my learning has progressed. However the change of date was disruptive as it took up a lot of time, went on for what felt like a long time and felt uncertain. In future I think students should be presented with a monkey survey with a number of dates in the future weeks (not the next day!) and if there is no consensus then have a new teacher assignedfor the assigned date (which is what happened in the end). I think Cactus admin needs to take responsibility for this and not lay it on the teacher.”
